A Separation. Directed by Asghar Farhadi, 2011.
How can we define what honesty is, if almost everybody lies?
Is the truth even worth pursuing, if everyone is not what they appear to be?
We have laws already in set by religion, the beliefs of our parents. Then why do people still sin, as dictated by the law? Is the law really fair enough for everyone? Or are we just stupid?
What A Separation does with divorce isn’t to give you an answer of what the grounds for it are. It doesn’t even give a valid reason as dictated by their law. Neither does it say that divorce is good or bad. With so many people being thrown into a moral confusion when discussing divorce, should we even spend our time on it considering there are more pressing issues at hand?
But not everyone lives in a happy home. Not everyone earns enough to have a fulfilling family life.
Is honesty the only thing that matters, when we are dragged into situations that can be completely out of our control?
How can we define honesty, if everybody is leading a different life?
