stunning in hand, but very hard to get my phone to capture how deep and lush this black is

tolerances on the legs are fine but like Red Alert before him the arms are incredibly stiff, but overall really great feeling toy

AOTP Quintus Prime and Quickstrike arrived and they are such beautiful creatures! Love the squib mode for Quintus (although as I suspected some of the tabs are quite finicky but that’s not unheard of for TF toys).

Also have AOTP Quickstrike next to his original toy

The biggest difference to me besides the size and more cartoon accuracy is that AOTP Quickstrike is significantly more sturdy than his original toy. But that also means AOTP Quickstrike is a lot more comfortable for me to play with than his original toy (I’ve only transformed the original toy once because he’s made with a lot of transparent yellow plastic and I worry about said plastic breaking). In my eyes, this was a long awaited and much needed update.

My second foundation paper pieced quilt block, using the same pattern as the first. This time I took inspiration from the Aquarium of the Pacific, with fish, sea otters, sharks, and a green that makes me think of kelp & seaweed. The colors are a lot more vibrant IRL than they are in the picture; for reference, that's a *red* towel behind the block, not a brown one. As with the first block, all fabrics are from Mt Scrapmore.

I did misjudge the placement of the fish, however since the real fish tend to duck into a cave or behind the wall *just* as you're taking their photo, I'm OK with it.

A journey through the Reganomics-era while lambasting the current technocracy, Apathy's "Mom And Dad" has instantly rewindable quotables filled with pre-Y2K pop culture references while Ap and his surprisingly digestible guests (it's not every day that a new voice like Little Vic's comes along or that Slaine actually drops something) go in on the hypocrisies U.S. culture over disco backdrops carried by heavy synths, boom-bap drums, and cuts. An instant classic.
