TIL that anomia, the inability to remember words, can be a symptom of ADHD (I haven't been formally diagnosed, but I tick enough of the boxes, and it matches what I learned when in grad school for my psych degree.) I will sometimes be teaching and I can't remember the name of a given organism I'm trying to refer to as an example. Like I can see the actual wildflower/bird/mushroom/etc. in my head, or I'm actually looking at it in person, and I can't remember either the common or scientific name. It is absolutely maddening, but at least it's likely just another exciting neurodivergent thing and not, you know, a degenerative neurological issue. (Obviously if it ever gets worse or I start having issues with the names of common stuff I'll go get checked out.)
I keep telling my students that my brain has holes in it and sometimes words fall out, but it's good to have some data behind the joking explanation.
