"Remove not the ancient landmark which thy fathers have set."
My ancestors have laid the foundation and placed a landmark, a lighthouse, that reminds me of who I am, whose I am, where I am right now, and where I am headed.
The definition of landmark is something that is easily seen even from a distance to enable someone to establish their location (Bing search engine definition).
I may not be where I want to be right now, but I see the landmark. I am being divinely guided in the right direction. My life's GPS is set; my ancestors set it for me. I don't know the way, but my spirit guides do. They reroute me when obstacles appear or when I make a wrong turn. The keys to unlock each level of my spiritual development are along the way. I have to be in tune to recognize the signs and symbols they use to communicate with me on this journey.
The foundation has already been laid. I have to build on it for my ease, luxury, joy, and pleasure as well as generations to come. In order for me to build properly, I have to examine the foundation, the old landmark, and determine it's stability. There may be cracks, sinking, uneven areas, gaps, separation, etc. That's because our ancestors are human and did the best they could with what they knew and what they had access to. The intention, power, and wisdom, however, remains.
I must return to that foundation, restore that same intention, power, and wisdom, and build with a fresh perspective that stabilizes our unit.
They told me to go back. Don't turn away from the old landmark. Use it to get where I'm going, to figure out who I am and whose I am, and improve upon it as knowledge and understanding increases.
