itโs open szn babey! if youโre thinking, man didnโt she do a bunch of crossfit open posts only a little while ago? youโd be correct! the format of the season changed this year, so the open is in october and the games are early next year. that means two opens in one year! and you KNOW how much i love the open!

8 ground-to-overhead @ 43/29 kg
G2OH means you have to get the bar from the ground to overhead anyhow. you can clean & jerk, you can snatch, you can, like, squat clean thruster every rep (but donโt). i watched chip muscle clean and push press?! i opted to power snatch, because theyโre faster and less fatiguing on the legs. i can cycle 30 kg reasonably comfortably; itโs 60% of my snatch max but iโm pretty decent at cycling a barbell at high percentages so 60% is fine. iโm good at burpees and i have good conditioning. i was pretty sure i could finish this workout.
i went out too hot on the first round (as i am wont to do #fullsend) but managed to reign it back in and completed a round every 1:25 on average. five rounds in i checked the clock and i still had 9 min left so i knew that i was on track to finish (money in the BANK).ย and oh my gosh i pretty much sold my soul on the 8th round. i had to step my burpees out which i literally havenโt done for about five years but i was hurtinโ real bad. kept my snatches unbroken until round 9 and then did 5+3 for the last two rounds. finished under the cap in 14:07 and wanted to throw up immediately afterwards and then had to sit down for 20 minutes while my body went through the 7 stages of grief.ย
still! first one in the books! hereโs to the next four weeks. would love to see some heavy cleans, some deadlifts, some handstand push ups... all my favourites!
