Actually entirely asking this for a friend who refuses to get a tumblr but also won’t shut up about this lost fic: 1) they *think* they read it on ao3, and a while ago at that; and 2) it MIGHT be two different fics (but they don’t think so but aren’t 100%), either way: vampire Eddie visits Steve in various points/places in his life (new years eve likely in NYC is a vague recollection), Eddie is ultimately confused asf that his forgetfulness charms don’t work on Steve. and they eventually get involved, Steve insists on basically renovated his apartment for Eddie because Eddie is all ‘I’m a vampire look how we can’t work!’ but Steve repeatedly proves him wrong. There’s a Vulturi-esque community who finds out Eddie’s dating a human and is displeased (Vecna/Henry may be in charge of this), and the one thing that IS a sure plot point (and why it might be two different fics): Steve agrees to act and prove he’s a thrall when the Vulturi-cult demands to see Eddie isn’t breaking any rules bc humans are lowed, just not unless they’re only mindless bloodbanks. Steve is of course successful in his deception and they live happily every after, the end (probably)
