angel definitely snapped back at david early in the relationship. nothing crazy, but they had a rough day and had come home irritated with a nasty headache blooming.

they tried so hard to banter like they normally do but his usual snarky self felt especially condescending and they just blurt out a “jesus fucking christ, knock it off” in the harshest tone he’d heard from them at that point.

bonus points if their voice quivers right at the end, just barely enough for david to hear it and his heart cracks because it just clicked that the aloof persona he puts on is actively hurting the person he loves most.

it’s a sobering moment for him as he realizes he could end up losing them if he doesn’t get his shit together.
