Recreations that are clearly the original painting with a few modern/topical items inserted, creating something which can easily be read as social commentary

By the way if you like cubism but really dont want to look at Picasso, check out Francoise Gilot. She tends to do a lot of really stylized paintings of women but… Yanno. Without the abuse.

She’s also one of Picasso’s exes and consequently one of his muses. She’s spoken at length about her experience. And thus far, she’s had some pretty sweet revenge. She’s free, her artwork is simply gorgeous, and she’s still alive today (as of 2020) at the age of 98!

Edit: i would also like to add that Gilot was already an accomplished artist when she became involved with Picasso, and he completely sabotaged her career when she left him. He discouraged museums from showing her work, and he unsuccessfully tried to block the publication of her memoir, Life with Picasso. To my knowledge, she’s the only one of his “muses” who is still alive, so let’s maybe take this time to explore and celebrate the work of a woman who was overshadowed by her abuser.

Listen I don't have a very big reach and I am in Texas so I can't vote against this bill PLEASE signal boost this so people in Indiana can fight back against this!

The bill is stating ANYONE convicted of a protest-related charge (even if it is not related to actual lawbreaking like vandalism, looting or violence) will not only NOT get federal financial aid such as unemployment benefits but also will have to pay restitution to the law agency that arrested them on top of standard conviction/court fees

Indiana please vote, call, and write your local representatives to stop this from going through because the next step is a law agency attacking a peaceful protest for no reason other than anyone who defends themselves will have to pay them money

While Aunt Jemima certainly isn’t real, one of the women they used to brand the product certainly was.

Her name was Nancy Green. And her real story is not even close to the one they’re trying to sell.

She was a former slave and a cook, but was not paid for being the face of, nor peddling and possibly even inventing the product. And unfortunately, was found in a unmarked grave and died in squalor. Those people used her for their racist imaging and she got nothing while they reaped the benefits. American dream my ass.

The people fighting to keep her could not prove they’re more racist if they tried. Especially considering the known history of the company. The inventor was inspired by a minstrel show for crying out loud. Come on now.
