Summary: Things are slowly starting to go your way with this new job opportunity opening for you! But what you mess up by the time you actually meet your new roommate?
Cw: Swearing, cleaningđŽâđ¨, smoking/cigarettes, healing? Relationships???, and not proofread!!!
Notes: Tell me if the pace on this is okay because I think I mightâve just been waffling.đđđ
You stayed staring at the email, truly weighing out your options here. What if you find a job as soon as you accept this one, what if the guys in the frat run you out or just unbearable to be around, what if you don't take the job and continue to get no income and lose your shitty flat.
Sighing, as you fell back into your bed, computer still on your lap.
Either you continue to stay in this endless cycle of debt or you lock in and take the job. Youâve cooked plenty before, even worked in a bakery part time(Your dad made you) But since you couldn't bear the thought of having to keep up with this high demand of bills and growing debt you had to make a move.
Groaning as you got back up and wrote back to the school, saying how you âwould be grateful for this job opportunityâ. Realistically you were desperate and needed something to help you.
Nearing to the end of the day you were still stuck on your bed scrolling through what you could watch on netflix, that you stole from dad.
Even without something to watch a hunger hit your stomach as you reach the end of the recommendations. The growl was prominent and almost scarce.
You didn't have too much money in your account last time you checked so you would have to use the cash you saved for emergencies, not food, but more like a taxi home or if you needed to see the doctors. But at this point in time food was an emergency.
You slipped on your shoes and slipped your phone, wallet, and vape into your hoodie pocketâalong with a tote bag that swung at your side.
Your music blurs out any sort of noise that may have been going on around you. As you turned the corner your stomach growled at you. You had almost forgotten that you hadn't eaten anything for a while now.
As you entered the familiar grocery store you looked up to the check out, empty. Grabbing a basket before walking down the aisles. Grabbing, oat milk, a packet of instant noodles, and a small pot of kimchi. You were standing in the chip section wondering which flavour would be the most worth it to buy.
âI usually go with the Hot Chilli onesâ
A smooth voice said beside you.
Looking to your side to see a slightly shorter female with brown hair and dark eyes, she was stunningâbut her eyebags gave away the fact that she was probably majoring in a medical area.
âOh? Never tried those ones beforeâ You say, pulling your headphones around your neck.
âShoko, by the wayâŚand trust me, these are good.â she says, stepping in front of you and picking up two bags, putting one in your own basket. âYou look really familiar by the wayâŚDid you ever go to Alpha's new years party?â
âYeah actually, not that I remember any of it.â You say chuckling quietly. After you mentioned your name, she dimly lit up for a moment.
âOh yeah, I knew I knew you from somewhere.â she says. âYou and Geto were drunk flirting the whole night until you just up and leftâfunnest thing ever by the way.â
A small blush fell on your cheeks as you looked away for a moment, ohâŚso thatâs how his insta got onto your phone (makes way more sense now).
âRightâWould I be no better if I said I don't remember that?â you said, sheepishly.
âNah, I don't blame youâhes hot and you were drunk.â
She didn't say it as if they were dating, so that made you a little more comfortable to continue talking to the girl beside you. Not that you were originally scared of her but you just didn't want to be the campus home wrecker.
âHehârightâŚum, what's your Instagram user?â You asked as if you were shy of the shorter woman.
âHere, give me your phone.â
And you folded almost immediately.
After you did your password and gave the phone to her she swiped through your home page and found Instagram.
âHere, I'll add you back tonight.â She said smoothly as she handed you back your phone.
âYeahâŚsounds good.â
âWell, I'll see you later.â She said before walking down the aisle to the front of the store, the worker seemed to have popped out of nowhere, ready to check her things.
Sending a small wave to her back you decided that it would be less awkward if you just pretended to be shopping around then waiting in line, because that made the most sense in your head.
Hearing the chime ding from the door made you go off and so you started making your way to the front counter.
After checking out your things with dirty bills and loose change you left a little more satisfied.
There was a hint of cigarette smoke in the air as you left the store, was it the worker? No, that old man doesn't seem like the typeâShoko!
You were really starting to like the way that this girl moves.
Finally getting back home you set your things on the counter and felt the buzz of your phone go off from your back pocket.
-Would it be okay if we discuss moving in tomorrow? I know itâs last notice but I would appreciate it alotâŚOr just whenever you're free.
-Itâs okay, Iâm free tomorrow! Did you want to meet up somewhere or did you want to check out the place for yourself.
-If you don't mind Iâd like to check it out.
-Perfect! Come after 11:40am. Or just whenever after that.
-Okay sounds good, Iâll be there around 12:00pm
After eating a packet of your instant shrimp noodles you sat at the kitchen table picking at your hot chilli chips. Scrolling through tiktok before a notification popped up from your messages, it was your bank.
Was your credit score seriously this bad? Were you getting vacated and for some reason your bank had to tell you?! Was this the end!?
Details have been added/charged from your account.
Oh great, this is what you totally needed after spending 20 bunks on junk food, yayyyyy.
You didn't read the rest of the message because you wanted to see the damage to your bank account yourself.
You dropped your phone, almost immediately. Was this real? Did someone accidentally send you someone else's money by mistake? Would you be arrested for this?! Why is everything today about questioning your life!
Going to the floor and picking up your phone once again, your hand shaking as you looked once more at the screen. This was more than enough money for bills, you wouldn't have to tell your potential roommate that you were behind on payment.
But that doesn't answer who sent you this. The university? No. Dad Maybe, but you two always grew up not having enough money for the finer things in life, hell, he made sure you had as many qualifications in most basic fields so you wouldn't be without a job or money.
And ever since you left your home town arguing with father you wouldn't think he would do something so generous. (You were literally arguing as you left for the train.)
Checking your bank history on your phone after having a silent cry to yourself to see that someone did mean to send this to you. There was a message attached to the statement as well.
âI love you too honey.â
That was the real kicker, you ended turning your phone off and laying it face down on the floor beside you. Sniffling as you held your head in your hands, quickly hugging your knees soon after.
You would've slept on the floor that night if you didn't mope yourself to bed. Crying yourself to sleep that night was nice but the money felt niceâŚ
You had snuggled up to your pillow in your sleep that night.
Your alarm went off at *8:20am* like it did every other morning.
Getting slowly, letting the pillow go from your grasp as you made your way to the bathroom. Getting ready for a day of sorting out bills, roommates, and maybe just spending time by yourself outside the house.
After showering you did your hair and brushed your teeth.
You spent the next couple of minutes looking for appropriate clothes, maybe something cute and cozy? orâŚNah, best not to think too hard about an outfit.
So you finished getting ready and made your way out the door at 9:15am.
Locking the door behind you before you headed out.
You had texted your landlord prior that you had the money to pay off your overdue bills, she automatically thought you had started doing porn or drugs dealingâbecause how did you get the money only a day after?
After talking to the landlord and leaving soon after transferring the money here you set off to get some cleaning supplies. You wanted to impress your new roommate with a clean apartment. Plus, this would be training for cleaning up the frat house you would be working at very soon.
Entering the supermarket was always sorta fun for you, when you were alone at least.
You walked down the long isles unaware of the noise coming around you, since your headphones were on playing your main playlist.
As you entered the cleaning aisle you noticed a short black haired boy, you presumed that was your age, leaving the aisle. His hair was shortish but reached past his neckâwhen did you become so aware of peopleâmaybe it's because you don't get out enough.
Looking back at the various wipes and products.
Picking up the necessary items before leaving. You grabbed the cheapest multi clean spray and wipes.
You picked a sweet drink on your way to the self checkout area. Leaving the store without a concern over your head.
But somewhere beyond your ears and eyes there were a few people talking quite loudly, about you actually.
âSo we're finally getting a new cook, huh?â Geto said calmly, checking out the protein on the side of a box of cereal.
âYep! I hope they're better than the last one we hadâ Gojo said, holding his own box of cereal, his just more childish and much much more sweeter.
âHe wasn't all that bad, but I get what you meanâŚYou think it will be a woman this time maybe?â Geto questioned, tossing the box into their cart.
âOh yeah! I hope she's hot!â
â...Me too.â Geto snickered quietly.
For the few hours you spent cleaning, the nooks of the cabinets and the corners of each counter. You even cleaned your room. Not that he would check out anytime soon.
Perfect, you had plenty of time to get some planning and emailing done for your new job.
You got lost for a while trying to set up a timetable for your school schedule and cooking. Good thing you took up part time in your major.
Oh shit, you had literally lost track of time.
A buzz came from you as soon as saw the time on your computer screen.
You shut your computer screen and left it on the dinner table.
You made it outside the door of your complex, seeing the spikey black haired boy, who was standing beside the nearby sign.
You said from the bottom of your stairs, waving at the new about to be first year.
Megumi turned around at the sound of your voice, you saw that a pair of wired headphones dangled from out of hoodie.
âHey.â He said, his greeting drawn out in a slow tempo.
âItâs nice to finally meet you.â You said as he made his way up the stairs. âLets go inside, yeah?â
Side note: I didnât realise I had to change the some of the text on here like, boldness or making the text sideways. But like thatâs all ig đ¤ˇđ˝ââď¸đ¤ˇđ˝ââď¸đ¤ˇđ˝ââď¸
