The fact that Emmerdale won their first Best soap award in the British Soap Awards in 2016 breaking a record held by others for 18 years should tell the showrunners something and yet we are half way through the year with the worst stories and that even the performances of the actors can’t sell(the actors are incredible but they can only do so much when the plot is written in the worst way possible) . even the NTA awards has the weakest performances across the board🤦🏻♀️ if they are desperate for the awards which they clearly are by who they keep forwarding maybe do a little side homework and RESEARCH WHY did that happen in 2016 and maybe maybe it will wake your dead brains. Strongest performances were Bear, Robert and now Charity also maybe Aaron during the horrors of John but the plots were gone down the drain that none of it matters anymore compared to other soaps and I say this as a loyal dale fan. It really pisses me off. EE have handled queer stories, male MH, beautiful pensioners friendships and dementia, Feminism hate and incels and even the side soapy bits all in half year!!! Not a single story from the dale is worth putting forward and it pains me to say because each had so much potential. The Modern slaver started of new and brilliant and Joshua was amazing >>🕳️. Robert PTSD and coercion had so much potential and Ryan was brilliant honestly to improvise the gorge in that way 👏🏻👏🏻 and many moments were so remarkable but >>>🕳️ my fave Charity, her story from the get go 🕳️ and it just keeps getting worse but Emma is wonderful and so incredible in every scene just UUUUUGHHHHH i hate how they ruined everything and robbing such wonderful talented people who can shine brilliantly from very deserved awards. Sorry gone off on one.
2016 was such a good year, and I will say it is a shame for the cast because they are talented but the stories, the writing I’m sorry they just don’t deserve to win and I feel like if they go winning awards with the current state of the show they won’t learn a thing. I think all soaps have gone through rough patches and been in an era that’s like this, but what should be a really powerful year for Emmerdale is just the complete opposite and I will die on this hill that Corriedale ruined it, looking back I really wish that crossover didn’t happen at all 🥲.
And it’s embarrassing for the cast, because when the NTA nominees came out you only had a week to vote for the shortlist, Charity’s storyline didn’t start till after they closed, Bradley hasn’t even got his own story it’s not even started yet. The other three had things going on at the time, but compared to who their up against my jaw will literally hit the floor in shock if a single one of them is shortlisted because there’s just no way I can imagine any of them on it because of who their up against and the stories from other soaps that were genuinely powerful and written really well.. Emma is a good actress especially with hard storylines like this but considering what’s happened before this storyline and we know there won’t be consequences of that now because her trauma I really don’t want her shortlisted or nominated because that’s the storyline she’ll be nominated for since the SA didn’t happen until afterwards, and that story just doesn’t deserve praise at all.
