HOW TO REMAIN CHEERFUL IN WINTER
My love, when winter settles in, will you get my  puffy jacket and say, âTime for your daily walk, my dearâ ? Will you walk me down our long driveway in its crisp snow-blown glory? // Will you add a cookbook to my lofty library list? Will you insist we make soup and crusty bread and eat it by candlelight?// Will you hang the twinkle lights in the window
and
those prisms that make rainbows dance on the walls? And when the darkness really sets in, inside of me, will you remind me of my own light?// Will you run a steamy bath and tell me corny jokes? But will you give me permission not to laugh?// Will you kiss me through my sadness?// Will you drag me often, away from myself, into the fresh snow and push me down and splash snowflakes on my face like a baptism? When I start to laugh, but then start to cry, will you listen when I whisper,
âI am sorry that I am not myself latelyâ ? // Then will you instruct me to make a snow angel? Will you help me up and point to it? Tell me: Here is your winter angel, darling. I know you canât always see her, but she is inside of you, caring for you, cheering for you until the snow subdues into pale pink blooms.
