Absolutely you can. A lot of autistics have high-empathy and feel emotions very strongly. Your therapist is uneducated and wrong to tell you that.

its also pretty common for autistics to mask in professional settings (purposefully or not, for me its mostly automatic), which can definitely cause a disconnect in how we’re perceived to experience empathy and how we actually experience it
