i honestly don't know how i feel about ilya but shane wise him wanting kids is so out incredibly of character to me, i feel like he's pretty neutral on kids in general like haydens kids i'm sure he likes them but i don't think he's choosing to be around them cause he likes them? its more just because haydens his friend. i mentioned this in my tags but shane has spent his whole life not being able to be fully himself, hes quiet, he doesn't have a lot of friends and the person he's been his true self with the longest is ilya and them adding kids into that takes that away from him? like hes not just shane now he has to be shane the dad which i can't see him liking
and either both of them or one of them would have to retire to even have a kid so they'd be sacrificing their careers for a kid when they can't even retire for each other. then when they do retire adding a kid into that is still so wrong because this is them being publicly out together for the first time, they're allowed to be seen and i think they'd just wanna enjoy that. i can see them still coaching the youth hockey camp for the foundation because neither of them would just stop playing hockey and that plus being uncles to haydens kids would be enough "parenting" for both of them. and most people around them probably only expect them to have kids because thats what you do? like every hockey family i know has at least 2 kids usually more like 4 and its so time consuming i don't think shane would be willing to give up his schedule, even after retiring, for kids
ik theyre young but this is a couple that loves to have sex everywhere all the time so they'd also be giving that up when they finally get to live together publicly, they can buy or build their own house together and i think they'd build it for them not for a family

their out in public together and they come across a group of fans who all happen to be kids, and he thinks “shanes really good with kids.” and yeah, that may be a normal but observant thought. but he imagines shane with HIS and jackies kids when he says it
and maybe at some point, anytime he thinks of his family, shane is included.
