luo binghe's abandonment comes from having a single parent and losing her and then being tossed around and abused his entire childhood while growing up poor, and then pushed into the abyss. mobei jun's abandonment comes from a severe lack of parental figures and a sense of security where the one demon he trusted the most was the one who broke him down into nothing by leaving him alone in a completely new world and getting hunted and captured for days before anyone even realised he was missing.

binghe seeks out connection because growing up lonely and having received kindness and love, even at the bare minimum level, while growing up changed him fundamentally and in a way enabled a very deep rooted belief that once someone loves him so sincerely, he'll never be loved like that ever again. it only makes sense to hold on to it. binghe's feelings come from a place of devotion and unbridled passion.

mobei jun on the other hand, grew up with everything, except love and kindness, his betrayal from the most significant person in his life changed him fundamentally in ways that taught him at a very young age that being alone is the safest way to be. mobei jun operates on fear and intimidation to avoid any vulnerability whatsoever, but moreso, the only way he could have a semblance of trust in anyone comes strictly from a place of duty or obligation to him specifically. his fear of being betrayed essentially boils down to, "can't be betrayed if i don't rely on anyone or let anyone else in."

luo binghe's abandonment issues leads him to be possessive and codependent, while mobei jun's abandonment issues leads him to be hyper independent and avoidant. binghe would much rather die than be alone and mobei jun would much rather destroy than express any vulnerability.

in all of this, there is a desperation under both of their facades that longs to be loved sincerely and completely, allowing them both to let their guards down and rest for once. there is also a naivete to both of them and their emotions, i won't go into much detail abt binghe cause it's already been severely discussed but mobei jun is mostly scared of being betrayed again, it's easier to scare people into submission, but more than anything, in his dynamic with shang qinghua, he constantly only quotes one sentence over and over again. "my lord I'll follow you for the rest of my life." as a frequent reminder to shang qinghua and sqh even confesses to himself at one point that it was just something he said to guarantee his own safety, he didn't expect mbj to cling to it like an oath. but he does and sqh's word alone after so many years is something that's reassuring to him, he, like binghe, needs frequent reassurance that he's not being left behind. but if he receives even the tiniest shift in that promise, he'll completely freeze sqh out. his attitude and behavior towards sqh does an immediate 180 and he'll completely shut him out.

Mobei tits-tats

there is this plant that is basically a gigantic flower and when the blood of two (or more) people are spilt into the flower it will start to form a baby.

this flower was in Airplanes drafts and not the finished work because it didn’t require papapa and despite wanting to include it he didn’t because it wouldn’t rake in as much money. He totally wasn’t thinking of including a male consort who wanted to have a family but couldn’t get pregnant because he was a man.

anyway moshang and others were on an adventure and they stumbled across this flower right next to whatever the magic item needed of the week is. There is a fight. Mobei Jun’s blood douses the flower, and qinghua recognizes the flower. While the team is extracting the needed flower or plant or whatever, he easily replants the flower into a spare pot and stuffs it in his qiankun pouch.

after the mission is over he takes out the flower and is trying to plan who to take the blood of to ensure the Mobei jun has good heirs, he accidentally gets his blood into the flower and doesn’t realize it until the petals have closed. at this point it crosses Qinghua’s mind that maybe Mobei hun might not want kids, but too late now. So he plans, he asks Mu Qingfang to watch the flower while he is at Mobei juns castle getting things in order. After like two weeks he comes back takes the flower and disappears.

no one can find him. But things haven’t gone to complete chaos because of the plans qinghua put in place. Skip to eight months later, Mu Qingfang asks Mobei-hun if the baby has been born yet. Mobei-jun is confused as fuck, after asking some questions interrogating him he finds out about the flower and how qinghua left to ensure Mobei-juns enemies didn’t find out and kill the baby.

so the search to get him back increases momentum. Many are involved now. Anyway, when they find him he is bleeding out in bed while looking at two babies (congrats its twins) halfway swaddled in bed.

the flower has a self defense mechanism that triggers when the babies are ready and it lashes out at anyone near. Qinghua forgot about this and now has a wound at his abdomen. So when the gang find him and the babies like twenty minutes after he’s all tired smiles because wow he did not realize how much qi the flower required on a daily basis and he bleeding out and the exhaustion of nine months finally hits him.
