Hey. Why isn’t the moon landing a national holiday in the US. Isn’t that fucked up? Does anyone else think that’s absurd?
It was a huge milestone of scientific and technological advancement. (Plus, at the time, politically significant). Humanity went to space! We set foot on a celestial body that was not earth for the first time in human history! That’s a big deal! I’ve never thought about it before but now that I have, it’s ridiculous to me that that’s not part of our everyday lives and the public consciousness anymore. Why don’t we have a public holiday and a family barbecue about it. Why have I never seen the original broadcast of the moon landing? It should be all over the news every year!
It’s July 20th. That’s the day of the moon landing. Next year is going to be the 54th anniversary. I’m ordering astronaut shaped cookie cutters on Etsy and I’m going to have a goddamn potluck. You’re all invited.
Hey. Hey. Tumblr. Ides of March ppl. We can do this
Hell yeah moon holiday
Ooh coming up we should celebrate
PITCH: We call it Moon Day, and then every 7 years when it falls on a Monday, that's an even BIGGER deal and we call that Moon Day Monday and go absolutely apeshit about it (the next Moon Day Monday is in 2026 so we have a couple trial runs first)
MOON DAY MOON DAY MOON DAY
moon day is 20th July!!!
Scheduling this a day earlier to remind you all and myself about the Moon Day tomorow!
Happy moon day to all who celebrate
This is your reminder to prep for Moon Day on July 20th.
today is the last saturday of 2012. reblog now or go @#!*% yourself because you won't get this chance ever again.

“what is better: to be born good or to overcome your evil nature throug great effort?” is a line that would go hard if it had anything to do with the themes of the game it’s from
I'm begging ppl to start experimenting with how elves look in tes. I'm begging ppl to start experimenting with unique and noneurocentric features in general.
On one hand I understand the aversion to learning how to draw those weird TES elf facial shapes, but then when people opt for more human-looking elves, why is it always the white supermodel face? I mean this in the sense that I'm especially disturbed by the mass whitewashing of dunmer, and, I don't know how to put this more nicely - if it's not the skin that gets lightened, I've seen quite a lot of dark elves that look like blackface. I know people aren't (hopefully) doing it on purpose, but you really should look out for it? I've been thinking about this for a long time and I know I'll make someone angry for saying it but honestly who cares at this point, if we want to combat the racism in fandom (which I know TES in its own worldbuilding perpetuates) we have to start pointing this out at the very least. Is your dark elf too dark for you? If so, why?
Since I noticed a bit of a domino effect - Just to be clear, my point in this wasn't to shame someone for their style, for drawing human-looking elves, or for designing mixed OCs (I love to see it all, actually!) and I don't know how that happened but I apologize if it came off that way to someone. I'm not keen on starting drama or discourse here, so if anyone is upset by anything I say, please reach out to me directly. I know misunderstandings happen, and I don't bite. The point here was to simply encourage people to examine their eurocentric biases when designing characters, and I think it's very important to discuss since the fandom at large is predominantly white. Make whatever you want forever but it won't hurt you to introspect every now and then and move forward accordingly. You'll be fine if you can stay humble and honest. I'm also gently asserting that I'm not apologizing for pointing out racism.
I don't intend to join any discourse or keep it going but I wanna say that I'm unsure why asking someone to examine their racial biases would make people so upset? There wasn't a single direct attack in your post on art styles, mixed race characters, etc. and at that point it honestly just seems like a projection. It is 100% okay to call out racism or bigotry in fandom spaces and people need to learn how to take a damn critique rather than transform it into personal criticism.
tes literally has only one non-allegory explicitly poc race, as a poc fan I am extremely appreciative when I see elves with non-european features. many of these fictional races are based on real, non-western cultures.
as for why people can get upset over having their racial bias pointed out/asked to introspect, it’s multifold. theres a lot of factors, ranging from “it’s just a game” to “I only create things for myself”, but it kinda boils down to just not wanting to think about it. and like I get why you wouldn’t want to think about racism in the video game/fandom that you found a community in and enjoy, it’s a hard and taxing thing to do all the time and sometimes you just don’t want to think about shitty things irl. but it’s important to do because it makes the people around you feel safer and more welcome.
it’s also probably got to do with this idea that “racist” is a character trait. most people who make racially biased choices are probably not personally racist or subscribe to racist beliefs. we live in a world where doing racist stuff is the norm, even though we generally think it’s bad. we will all do racially biased shit in our lives, and it’s okay to make those mistakes so long as we learn from them and avoid them.

making a skyrim tomodachi life island and so far everyone wants to fuck this guy.
Hamlet adaptation where Hamlet is a vlogger and all his soliloquies are breakdowns he uploads to YouTube
… I am unironically here for this
this is the funniest thing I’ve ever seen in my life
This is - legitimately - my favourite delivery of Shakespeare I have EVER seen (and I have seen some good-ass productions yo, in the Globe Theatre itself even). Like seriously, even though the words are unchanged, he’s stripped away ALL of the archaic pretense and assumed grandeur of ~presenting the bard~ that makes even the most wildly talented of actors and innovative of productions inherently inaccessible to a modern audience. Like, they’re still great, they can still communicate the message and (some) of the nuance, but they’re still always a step removed from being identifiable to any viewer’s lived experience. They’re still always reciting 15th century poetry. But this guy? This guy is like, screw iambic pentameter, to hell with being precious about the material, HOW WOULD AN ACTUAL PERSON SAY THIS SHIT?
Like this. And it’s beautiful. It’s beautiful to hear a soliloquy I loved so much already, and have it come to life in a way it never, ever, did before. I feel like I grasp his motivations, his twists and turns, no longer on an academic level but on a visceral, instinctive one. Because he’s presenting his mental and emotional journey in a way that speaks honestly, like a real person.
So yeah, this shit post? I love it. Deeply and sincerely.
A post about this went round recently, and I’m delighted to announce she’s since come out as trans and goes by Jasmine 🏳️⚧️
Actor and Writer
There’s a whole series of the Hamlet videos on her YouTube, as well as a bunch of other films she’s made
the existence of carnival barkers is not universally known anymore. We need to change this
grossed is such a weird way to describe how much a movie makes. how much did this movie yucky

just found probably the most useful thing you can do with magelight in skyrim. Was fighting a dragon in the dark. lighting mods to make it more extreme. Couldnt see shit. For some fucking reason I decided to cast magelight AT the dragon. It stuck to the dragon and for the rest of the fight he had a glowing orb attached. big news in the "lighting mods make my world dark as shit" community
holy shit this works on ANY npc. I just magelighted Lucien. probably most useful on dragons but idk good to know ig
