somewhere out there are at least six twitter employees on a zoom call right now, trying to decide if theyâre gonna flag 130,000 destiel-putin tweets for misinformation or notÂ
explain
1. lack of female characters in spn means that there are no meaningful het romantic relationship prospects for dean
2. the only strong relationship in the show is between dean and sam
3. wincest pairing becomes most popular ship in the show
4. many fans are frustrated that the juggernaut ship in spn is an incest ship
5. castiel appears in show
6. destiel goes wildly popular as a result of fans being relieved to have a mlm ship that isnt wincest
7. resulting destiel flurry shoots the show back to prominence, ushering in a new audience of fans, including stacey abrams in 2017
8. supernatural becomes stacey abrams's new go-to relaxation show
9. stacey abrams's frustration with sam's decisions in season 10??? apparently??? helped form some of her opinions about coalition building in her campaign???? theres a 2018 interview with abrams on blackgirlnerds.com that posits this jkdfhgkjhdfghdfjkg
10. stacey abrams runs for georgia governor in 2018
11. stacey abrams narrowly loses the race in large part due to suppression of black votes
12. stacey abrams spends the next two years advocating for expanding voting access, an effort that has resulted in hundreds of thousands of first time registered voters
13. in the 2020 election, georgia goes blue by a margin of a thousand votes or so
14. stacey abrams's efforts are given credit for this shift
15. stacey abrams celebrates by unwinding with a nice relaxing episode of destiel is canon
I found the Black Girl Nerds interview if you want to check it out.

WHAT
working full time is terrible why do we just accept that having 8 days off a month is normal and okay........ being alive could be cool but we waste it at our JOBS.... sorry iâm just heated about capitalism again iâll be fine
8 days....never thought about it like that đ
This seems really whiny to me. Like, I agree with you, work sucks, but our ancestors didnât get to browse tumblr at their desks or have the option to gleefully spend their ENTIRE WEEKENDS horizontal on the couch stuffing their faces/watching tv/playing video games/wacking off. They didnât have weekends. They just slaved away as fucking peasants from dawn to dusk until they died in childbirth or got the consumption.
I am perfectly happy working 8 hrs a day because I donât have to:
grow my own food
find my own clean water
heat my house
shit in the woods
Hi, I study social and cultural anthropology. Humans working 40+ hours a week is 100% an industrial revolution thing and was not normal in the early stages of our existence. In fact, hunter and gatherer societies that still exist to this day spend about 15-20 hours a week TOPS working. The rest is dedicated to sitting around and telling stories and jokes, dancing, singing, eating, sleeping, fucking and so forth. Read a damn book.
Medieval peasants lived grueling, terrible lives. But their vacation days beat out the policies now common even in progressive societies.
đ¤đŹđĄ
When the medieval peasant - the iconic, screwed over, worst off person of pop culture - had more days and time off than you, somethingâs gone wrong. And apparently something has been wrong for a while now...
Modern peasants have to pay to go to the gym after work to do some of that back-breaking labour our physiology has evolved for

was watching s1 of spop with a friend the other day, and she went 'but adora asked catra to come with her! catra's being a dumbass!' and it made me wonder if, like, people who didn't grow up in abusive households just can't entirely get it.
i mean, it makes so much sense to me? when i was a teenager, all i would do every day was dream of the day i'd finally leave home. i had a whole plan, of how i'd get into college in a different city and move there on my own, or maybe even get a girlfriend and move in together... and even though that was years and years away, so far off that it often felt like a pipe dream, it was the only solution i could imagine. had one of my friends abruptly showed up on my doorstep and told me 'hey pack your things we're relocating to the other side of the country with some people i met a day and a half ago, it's gonna be GREAT', i would think they've gone nuts. i wouldn't consider it for a second. i mean, yes, i'd be out of my abusive home, but what would i have to rely on?
even abusive families hold a sense of safety. you know you always have a place to come back to. a roof over your head, a bed, a meal. and after years and years of it, you've found ways to deal with the abuse -- you know how to navigate it. a familiar evil is far less terrifying than some vague promise of happiness in the great unknown. while adora (and the viewer) knows that bright moon is the objective good in this scenario, and thus can rest assured that she'll supported and looked after, catra has no reason to trust in a bunch of random strangers that are all categorically her enemies.
add to that the moral aspect that adora wraps it up in ('i know you're not a bad person, you don't belong with the horde' = staying in your abusive home because it's your home and it's all you know is actually a moral failing), and i mean... geez. i can't remotely blame catra for not coming with her. from her point of view, adora's actions are reckless to the point of nonsensical -- they've endangered adora (because what safety net does she have outside the horde?) and they've endangered catra, who's left with no one to protect her, over some sudden overnight epiphany that completely flipped her lifelong morals and worldview. and now catra is the one who has to feel bad, for being an abused teenager who can't help but depend on the toxic environment that raised her from infancy.
so, yeah. catra is just painfully relatable to me. she makes so much sense, and is such a realistically written victim of abuse, bless this show.
I learned in a Latin Studies class (with a chill white dude professor) that when the Europeans first saw Aztec cities they were stunned by the grid. The Aztecs had city planning and that there was no rational lay out to European cities at the time. No organization.
When the Spanish first arrived in Tenochtitlan (now downtown mexico city) they thought they were dreaming. They had arrived from incredibly unsanitary medieval Europe to a city five times the size of that centuryâs london with a working sewage system, artificial âfloating gardensâ (chinampas), a grid system, and aqueducts providing fresh water. Which wasnât even for drinking! Water from the aqueducts was used for washing and bathing- they preferred using nearby mountain springs for drinking. Hygiene was a huge part if their culture, most people bathed twice a day while the king bathed at least four times a day. Located on an island in the middle of a lake, they used advanced causeways to allow access to the mainland that could be cut off to let canoes through or to defend the city. The Spanish saw their buildings and towers and thought they were rising out of the water. The city was one of the most advanced societies at the time.
Anyone who thinks that Native Americans were the savages instead of the filthy, disease ridden colonizers who appeared on their land is a damn fool.
Theyâve also recently discovered a lost Native American city in Kansas called Etzanoa It rivals the size of Cahokia, which was very large as well.
here are some reconstructions of TenochtitlanÂ
just a note, we donât think of old european cities as ruins, because those civilizations continued and kept building over the oldâthere are no abandoned ruins for us to visit & photograph. when we picture those old cities, we have only mental images drawn from our own assumptions & prejudicesâimages that tend to glorify âcivilizedâ europe.
since victors write history, our image of native american cities was created by colonizers motivated to uphold the ânative savageâ myth. when we think of these civilizations now, we think of âuncivilizedâ (rough, broken, abandoned) ruins, because thatâs what remains. ruins are the only thing left. because of the destruction wrought by western invaders, these civilizations never had a chance to continue building. they were destroyed, and all we have left is an unimaginative shadow of their former glory.Â
went to peru and visited some of their museums and learned inca history that american schools donât teach you. basically you know why they were beaten out by the spanish invaders? because incas were mostly scientists and not warriors. they had advanced medicine, farming and science technology. THATS what they were good at - tech - not building weapons to most efficiently kill people. the spanish were good at that. so they won. basically the real savages and thugs won and murdered a bunch of scientists, and their technology and advancements are lost forever. it took into the 20th century for colonizer technology to advance in the field of medicine and agriculture to the level of the incas. colonizers literally set human knowledge back like 500 years.Â
Itâs crazy to me that, literally everyone in the world was doing just fine until Europeans showed up flipped the script
You can identify a fake redneck by their passionate support of âblue lives matter.â Real rednecks have been in at least one physical fight and/or high-speed chase with police officers and would do it again

We all making jokes about Zuko working at the tea shop as firelord, and how humble he is towards his servants. But what if a diplomat from the earth kingdom shows up one day and catches Zuko in a more casual outfit while being ushered through the palace. The diplomat mentions something about how Lee must be very good at making tea if he was sent all the way to the fire nation and asks to be served during the meeting. Not one to turn down an offer Zuko obliges and disappears off into the kitchen. The diplomat sits down at the meeting table, awaiting the arrival of the firelord when his tea arrives. He pours a cup for everyone sat around the table including the firelord. The diplomat inquiries when the firelord will be joining, to which Zuko responds by sitting in the throne at the head of the table.

Iâm still not over how Avatar: The Last Airbender, a childrenâs cartoon that aired on Nickelodeon in 2005, had one of itâs main male characters confronted by their own sexist ideals in the first four episodes and come out the other side in WARRIOR DRAG and fully drinking that respect women juice for the rest of the show
..it is truly one of the most masterful television shows of our time and age
