so someone does a minor in art first, maybe one of the captains? someone who isn’t quite so pressed to get so many qualifications as soon as possible in between all their other work.

The other corries start off like well kriff, their armour paint is improving by spades, and they like that someone is actually documenting vod art outside of the goran’e and they come back from class saying that the professors actually fully respect the armour art, and it’s actually started a phase of people researching mandalorian art traditions, and seeing hiw the clones are creating their own culture and style—even different sub-styles between battalions and deployments.

The shit coming out of the logistics vod’e, for instance, is fascinating, because they do not give a shit.

suddenly there is interest in stained glass and mandalorian textiles and even the ancient taung bone crafts that satine kryze hadn’t been able to stir up, particularly after the art class corrie mentions the way troopers carve old armour as a hobby craft and gift their work to their siblings and friends, sometimes even jedi.

so the next round, there are more corries signing up, and when Fox gets a chance, he surprises everyone by also signing up.

they shouldn’t be shocked, as they saw his phase one armour. like the guy has a very steady hand and an eye for style and is nuts enough that he’ll sit and paint really minute details for hours if he has the chance (it’s very meditative).

anyway, his art is really good and makes people feel things. he discusses several types of things in his work that semester, but there is clearly a depth of emotion many people who don’t know fox are shocked by.

while it’s tempting to think of goya and the way the wars he bore witness to, there area few directions we could take. but yeah. people are like holy shit, even though this is like the first glimpse into his potential. first year student work.

one of the panel members for his final assessment is jocasta nu, and while others are polite about being like ‘please don’t give this up. you have it,’ jocasta is more like ‘you’re going to stick with this, you’re one of mine, now.’

fox actualky gets a little worried, like you have one professor telling some senator at a party that fox is wasted in the army, which is stupid as hell to say, but shit like that really riles up the ‘clones aren’t people’ crowd and this guy is trying to start trouble a bit

the chancellor doesn’t hear of it, thankfully, because that would have really caused some serious shit, considering the man is from naboo and supposedly cares about art

so they all decide they need to chill out with their classes because they don’t want to be told to stop or like punished for having nice things in their life (or for like the wrong senator to notice that these qualifications blow the kaminiise arguments about sentience and sapience out of the water too early, because they really want to win the case when they go for it and they want to be ready.)

anyway jocasta is like…she takes an interest in the corries’ art and keeps bugging them about it, even as shit gets more stressful, and they’re having to cover more ground and more roles, and they don’t really have time to be studying non essential stuff.

They miss exams, and jocasta is like ‘I spoke to your professor, they’ll allow you to sit it at the archives under my supervision when you have a moment, and I don’t mind getting up at two am to make this happen for you.’

the corries are like ‘I finally understand what my batchmates mean by jetiise being crazy, but this was not the way I thought they’d be crazy.’

Jocasta is also emailing Fox with things to think about, like ‘you can’t study a full course anymore but I saw this work again this week while looking at something else, tell me what you think of it, I think you’ll find this interesting.’

he is annoyed because she’s so pushy, but it is interesting, and it’s something to contemplate while on guard duty.

there are a few directions this can take but the one I was thinking of today is that when fox’s replies start getting weird because CC-1010 is answering, or they don’t happen at all because CC-1010 doesn’t answer them, or something like fox remarks upon a work of art jocasta knows is in a private collection of someone who just got politically assassinated and even her shadows can’t solve the case but she ends up finding out about their treatment and gets her saber rifle out, or perhaps pulls off her own unsolvable assassination

either way, she’s like these are some of the greatest minds of this generation, they’ve pissed me off in their essays more than I have been in quite some time, I’m not going to allow the senate to eat them alive before they meet their potential!!!!

and the corries are like ‘this woman is the most annoying sentient in the galaxy and we would die for her’

They sign up for interrelating minors after the first degree.

a lot of it is stuff they already studied in their training, so Fox and Thorn are working on spPHDs while doing all of their other duties.

this is all completely unremarked upon until someone in the clone fan messageboards finds one of Fox’s essays and has enough knowledge on the subject is like ‘guys this is really good, and ow, the chancellor’s ears must have burned when he submitted this, because damn’

clone fans being what they are, the other work by the other corries is gone over with a fine tooth comb, but it’s not really noticed other than that.

until fox ends up doing an art history course or something, and Jocasta Nu is actually the professor in charge.

he has to come in for some of the lectures so the students can properly experience the works in question, and they’re in the archive. He also shares classes with jedi younglings on top of the coruscanti locals and core world galactic students.

he also, for the first time, has a group project that isn’t allowed to just be done over the comms. presumably because the jedi younglings have these kinds of classes on their schedules so they can be socialised with non-jedi in a safe environment.

Fox isn’t aware but like three new people have declared fox one of their friends

Fox’s final assignment for that course is actually the one that really blows up despite him submitting several thesis by that time eviscerating the new mandalorian government, mereel’s supercommando codex (because fuck you jango, your dad is smart but not an untouchable god), and the republican senate. but the art history course is where he discusses several priceless-because-they’re-fucking-illegal-to-own-sheev pieces in the chancellor’s office and apartments.

Walnut was born in a species-recovery breeding program in the 1980′s.  The program had crane chicks hand-raised by human volunteers, and at that time they did not fully understand the measures necessary make sure that the chicks do not imprint on humans and retain their identity as cranes.  

As a result, her keepers believe, Walnut does not recognize other cranes as members of her own species.  

It has not been proven that Walnut killed her previous suitors; however, there is a persistent rumor in the white-naped-crane-conservation community that she did.  

Because this species is highly endangered, and the gene pool of the captive population is small, it’s pretty important for the survival of her species that Walnut A) mate, and B) not kill a bunch of other cranes.  

The actual name of the keeper is Chris Crowe.

They both arrived at the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute in 2004.   

Walnut immediately began paying special attention to Chris--and ignoring the eligible male crane in a nearby enclosure.  

Walnut initiated their courtship, performing the opening moves of a mating dance.  

Chris realized that if he reciprocated the mating dance, it might be possible to artificially inseminate Walnut with her participation and consent.  (The process normally involves restraining the bird.)  

It worked!  

Chris and Walnut have had five children, who were raised by other crane couples at the facility--sometimes the biological dad and his mate--both because it’s unclear whether Walnut would accept the chicks as her own, and because Chris is not equipped to be a Crane Dad.  

However, the Institute provides her with artificial eggs to sit on, and Chris takes his turn looking after them.  (This would not work with real eggs because he can’t sit on them properly, but Walnut seems to feel that he is on the job if he just stands over them.)

she has not been PROVEN to have killed her exes, but there is a PERSISTENT RUMOR (really officers she's simply DEVASTATED, she sobs, wearing a new feather boa unfortunately resembling her most recent deceased husband)

the mental images of a whole human man learning and performing the crane mating dance, and "sitting" on artificial eggs so she thinks he's performing his duties as a husband and father (and apparently OBJECTS if he does not?)

Secondly, it cures in air alone, no oven or kiln required, and unlike clay it has microscopic shrinkage between wet and dry, so you can pack it around glass or whatever. When she says you can stand on this stuff, yes, you can (though for very large sculptures or very narrow sections of a sculpture, she recommends adding a metal armature for extra strength). It is impervious to water, so it can go outside in any weather, and any metal armature encased inside it won't rust

Additionally, Pal Tiya Premium can be added to at any point in the curing process, even weeks or months later, so you can make a sculpture in several pieces and, like with a mold, remove the foil core you sculpted on so you can use it again and again (though you have to add a sacrificial layer of foil between the core foil-sculpture and the Pal Tiya (see the videos on the youtube channel about it). You can color it with oxides, concrete stain, inks, or acrylics, including exterior-grade house paint so your sculptures can go outside.

Alfred: i see. and where, might i ask, do you plan on spending this fine evening out on the town?

Damian: one of my classmates has an older sibling that has gotten us invited to a party on his school's campus. i assure you, i plan on remaining safe and staying away from recreational drugs and heavy drinking.

Alfred: right. and this party doesn't just so happen to be on Gotham University grounds, does it?

*a beat*

Damian: maybe.

Alfred, dryly: the very same party that your father and siblings are currently staking out due to rumours of suspicious rogue activity?

Damian, innocently: well i wouldn't know anything about that, being as i was benched from patrol. i'm simply a young teenager trying to have fun.

Alfred:

Alfred: *sigh* you understand that when your father notices you showing up to his case in nothing but a dress shirt, he will most likely be even more frustrated than if you'd simply snuck out as Robin?

Damian, shrugging: well, my siblings always tell me that i should be more rebellious and teen-like, so i suppose he'll just have to blame them.

Damian: *walks past Alfred, headed down towards the staircase*
