EXCEPT its Ponyboy talking about Darry 😼‼️

Ponyboy watching how the brother he loved slowly began to lose his laugh, watching him lose the goofy smile he always wore.

Ponyboy watching how Darry had left the night he had to identify his parents bodies, only to never come back the same. The stern face he walked out with would soon be the face that stayed in their home.

Ponyboy watching the strong, enthusiastic brother who would carry his little brother over his shoulders now carried bundle after bundle of roofing, leaving him too sore and slouched to carry his younger brother.

How the laughing and snorting that would come from Darry’s side of the table at dinner soon stopped when he began skipping dinner to get ready for bed after a long day's work.

"I thought we lost you like we did mom and dad" because you're not the same person you used to be when they were here.
