A thing I really appreciate about supergirl is that Kara is never shown to be pretty. Yeha she is pretty regardless because they casted milly fucking alcock but the never show her to be put together. They let her be messy. They let her be rude. They let her fuck up. Every time we see strong confident women in media they are always wearing the tightest bodysuit and look beautiful even when they have been beaten to shit. Not here. Every scene Kara is in she looks like a car had run over her. And they don't "transform" her and make her look prettier by the end to show that she has started to heal. Nah they keep her like that and they change how she acts. I love supergirl.

i don’t go here anymore, but almost everything in the book is commentary on the politics surrounding the government response to classism and racism? (the musical discusses the latter more but it’s all the same story). ponyboy’s whole motive is wanting to get out of tulsa because of how divided the world feels due to class. im pretty sure another huge part of the book is that people mainly cared about bob’s murder because he was a soc. if he was a greaser, no one would’ve cared about his death. just like how nobody cared when dally died (outside of the gang i mean). and then the anti cop propaganda in dally’s assisted suicide. literally all of it is political commentary about how the government doesn’t give a fuck about the greasers because they’re poor and how the greasers are all considered hoods and criminals, even though you have characters like ponyboy and johnny who clearly aren’t. you don’t have to be a fan of the musical, but listen to justice for tulsa and tell me it’s not political as FUCK
i know i’m being really mean here and i don’t mean to be but like…this is like saying 1984 isn’t political.

supergirl was pretty fun! it had some really good moments, i especially loved the relationship between kara and ruthye and all of the backstory we got for kara. milly alcock brilliantly portrayed such a wide range of emotions. the bones of the story were so good, i just think it could have been executed a little better. 6/10 ⭐️
