additionally, he has been forcing Automattic employees who wish to use Blind (an anonymous platform for talking about businesses and employers) to go through him personally when verifying their work accounts there, so he knows who's talking about him

the immortals aren't all identical in their immortality. Since there's multiple ways to be immortal, there's different forms of immortality with different rules, and thus they play with death and pain in different ways.

You've got:

Resurrective immortality. When they die, they reappear in a new body, good as new. (technically there's two subtypes but we don't have time to go into this... Plus I'm too embarrassed at accidentally swapping the Death Maids from one subtype to the other in my second story)

Healing immortality. This is your Wolverine style immortality: you damage them, it just gets better. How much damage they can take/if there is a limit varies from immortal to immortal. Some immortals would die if you took out their head or heart, but others could pull themselves back together after being crushed into a fine paste.

Brick immortality. This is your superman-types: they shrug off injury and just don't feel it. Usually they've got some weakness: a special substance, magic, radiation, mind control, etc. Otherwise they would never show up to The Den of Death.

Possessive immortality. Their true form is non-corporeal, and they only have a body for as long as they inhabit it. When they die, they just jump to another, less dead, body.

Replicative immortality: they're not limited to one body, so you can't truly kill them unless you kill all of them. Some are hive minds, some are not. Some make their own bodies, some act more like possessive immortals and take over existing bodies.

Atemporal immortality. These fuckers are the worst. They basically rewrite history whenever they die, so that they don't die. We spent an embarrassingly long time trying to kill The Luckiest (at their request!) before someone with paratime senses figured out what was happening. Basically if you try to kill them, you fail, but usually in the silliest worst ways possible! The gun jams, the poison has gone off and is now only mildly unpleasant, you trip and snap the blade in half... It's looney tunes shit.

Anyway, yeah. You can see how we have to vary our techniques to each type of immortal. Your resurrective types are all about the slow drawn out deaths, because for them the "fun" ends when they die. Your bricks and healers like the "a mortal could never survive this" kinds of deaths, where we crush them or blow them into little pieces.

Possessive and replicative immortals usually like to watch. They're into making big scenes of their death, and the audience is full of them.

Immortals can do everything but die. So of course they are obsessed with that one thing they can't do.

I figured, this is a short scene, it probably only needs a d10 random table.

Turns out, 4 characters rolling once for each lane of traffic (and more if they don't make it across first try) gets repeats *pretty quick*.

The multiple banana skins, implausible vehicles and carts of live chickens weren't so bad...

...but that one leafleter who just wanted to give the party a flyer for a political meeting? That vibe got real weird on the 3rd or 4th time.

Of course, by that point it was also *extremely* funny that they were being haunted by what can only be described as the Activist Traffic Cryptic.

Especially as we get older, we really need to make an effort to remind ourselves of our childhood. Look at how kids just draw without a care in the world. They draw whatever they want. Stick figures, wild proportions, and a whirlwind of ideas clashing together. And I think that, more than anything, captures the simple joy of drawing - creating something. Just the sheer joy of having an idea and bringing it to life, however it may end up looking. Telling a story, or maybe not telling one, who cares ? Why lose that simple joy ? Why does us getting older mean that we can't just have fun doing something, however "good" or "bad" it may be?

It's just a reminder that art can be just that. Doodling something on your canvas, and enjoying yourself. Art doesn't have to be a miserable experience. As obvious as it is, it's easy to forget.

Now, first thing I learned: fruit flies don't eat fruit. They eat yeast. They eat the yeast on fermenting fruit. They can not actually eat fruit. Their name is a lie.

Secondly, one of the two mutant lines I was given to cross are flies with the apterous mutation, aka they're wingless. I feel so bad for them, they can't do the one thing they're named for, they cant fly.

And then I realized. My fruit flies are in truth insects that eat yeast and can't fly.
