I’m not gonna lie, I am not against controlling kids social media pretty heavily. I have seen real damage (talking things I can’t legally discuss) first hand causing LOTS of issues.
I get the desire to protect the children, especially from an obvious and immediate harm.
You know the last organization I want doing it on a blanket level*?
The government. Currently run by Trump and a seemingly endless supply of old rich white men whose idea of “child” is suspect at best.
FIGHT FOR THE FUTURE - KOSA is not inevitable!
Evan here from Fight for the Future. I want to let you in on a little secret: things may seem pretty gloomy, but we are actually winning the fight against the dangerous censorship bill called the Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA).1
Something huge happened during the last Senate hearing on KOSA that totally flew under the radar in the news. But it’s really significant.
Senator Ed Markey (D-MA), one of the top Senators on the committee who’s seen as a leader on children’s online safety, issued a statement criticizing KOSA and echoing our concerns about how it could be weaponized by Trump to target LGBTQ+ youth.2
It would have been easier for Senator Markey to just stay silent on a controversial vote. The fact that he issued a statement is a sign that our grassroots advocacy is working. All the phone calls, emails, letters to the editor, and protests are making a real difference. There are cracks in the wall. But we have to keep pushing.
We are leading the charge against KOSA and bad Internet bills with our coalition of dozens of organizations and tens of thousands of ordinary people just like you. Will you chip in to help fund the fight?
DONATE TO STOP KOSA
For decades, politicians have co-opted the language of “protecting children” to ram through legislation that threatens our basic rights. We are finally starting to win against this false narrative: more and more people understand that censorship and surveillance make kids less safe, not more safe.
But now Big Tech giants like OpenAI and Microsoft have thrown their weight behind KOSA, and billionaires are pouring money into lobbying for it and similarly dangerous “age verification” bills.3,4
We’re on a knifes edge. In the next couple years, we are either going to resoundingly defeat these types of dangerous bills, or they are going to become commonplace around the world. I hope you’ll pitch in to help steer us toward the right side of history.
Thanks for all you do,
-Evan at Fight for the Future

Hey guys! Some good news, senators are getting annoyed with all the calls they're getting to end the Iran war by us, great! Keep doing that! Let's get our voices heard and out there, keep annoying them however you can don't give them a choice to back down.
Call your senators and representatives and tell them to end these things, they will listen they have to;
* tell them to end the war in Iran,
* tell them to help those in Gaza,
* we don't want Kosa, specify we want no version of kosa whatsoever, no kosa at all and no version of kosa
* to stop Todd Blanche from ever taking away our right to choose abortion
* and keep asking for the Epstein files.
I know it's been hard and I know some of you think they won't listen but they are, yes they're annoyed but guess what that's what counts, annoyed or not they are listening to us. Keep up the good fight, I believe in all of you and know we can win this! I love you guys!
Edit; I know I've been political lately and trust I don't really like being political but these are subjects I take seriously and want people to be aware of these problems no matter how small of a creator I am.

i just used this site to contact several lawmakers and urge them to not just stop KOSA, the KIDS act, and all online censorship and ID laws but to ban mass online censorship, digital ID/ age verification laws, and use of facial recognition/biometric surveillance and ALPR cameras such as Flock everywhere as well. i urge you to do the same.

Original post
I took a brief break, but now it's back to work. I'm calling my senators, representatives, and Congressional leadership to oppose KOSA, the SCREEN Act, and other age verification bills and I hope you're doing the same and continuing to spread the word.
All of the bad internet bills. One website.
So the Senate Version of KOSA passed the Senate Commerce Committee on Aug 5th, meaning that there is two different KOSA bills that will be voted on in September (no set date yet) when the Senate is back from Recess. The next session (or in other future sessions bc no set date), they will vote on the Kids Act (the 14 internet bill package that include KOSA introduced by the House) and the Senate’s KOSA.
Please call your Senators about these bills, and tell them to oppose these bills. Call, email, fax everyday to bring attention to how this is STRONGLY unfavored by constituents. While I’m not 100% sure, I did see some vids that the kids acts is not favored by the senate.
OmarBigSister has a beacons (linktree) in their bio that will help with calling your local senators, as well as email. If you want to leave a voicemail for those that are nervous about someone picking up, call after 8pm (that’s what I do). Google doc provides a script that you can use. They have information on KOSA.

Cloud or Princeofcloudcity is also someone who has information of KOSA and other internet bills.
