I agree that some books have a lot of explanation in them instead of showing something that the readers can live through. I know why someone eats when they are frustrated, but I don't want to read it in that manner.

"She became angered so she ate three donuts in record time." So what? i want better.

"She felt that rage welling up within her. It was boring a hole deep inside her stomach, where it would settle and create a hunger out of nowhere. Lunch was an hour ago, but the hunger doesn't seem to have been slayed by a soggy BLT. She opens the cabinet door to see three large glazed donuts, stale, sitting in a cardboard box. 'Fine,' she mutters and grabs the donuts, shoving one into her mouth after the other. She barely took time to taste them. After all, one stale glazed donut tastes as well as the next. The rage slowly extinguishes with each swallow, until her stomach is full of a sticky sweetness she would regret in the coming minutes. Though the hunger had been quelled, and the rage had quieted down some, the aftermath left tears welling up in her eyes. She pondered why she did this time after time. The donuts didn't solve the problem. They offered almost no solution, but they were a means to an end."

Oftentimes, showing is going to be a longer paragraph and statement. Telling is just giving information. She eats donuts when she's angry or frustrated. She's using food to process her emotions. We don't need the explanation that that is what she's doing. I want authors to take me on a journey, and that is what I tried to convey.
