imagine living in the iwtv universe with all the modern internet discourse about the power imbalance and age gap relationship between pulitzer prize winning author daniel molloy and his 20-something looking y/o twink reaching max confusion when said younger bf goes on instagram live and and defends himself against the backlash as if he is the older one in the relationship refusing to apologise for being with some 400 years younger than him and not answering any further questions whatsoever
Actual funniest way Armand changing Daniel could have gone down is that old man having a medical emergency 3 minutes after Louis leaving the penthouse and like bro falls down some stairs and Armand’s life flashes before his eyes cause Louis just said not to harm Daniel and now it going to look like he did.

really not fucking around when i tell you to have a session 0 where everyone figures out PC relationships btw. in high school i played a game of dnd where i was a human rogue assassin from a murder cult and then found out on game day that there were two more human rogues and that those players had come up with their own murder cult.
Congratulations on achieving a “Classic Larson”!
in retrospect. the idea of armand trying to kill louis and then when it didn't work just continuing to be married to him for another 70 years? is fucking hilarious
When you really think about it, Daniel Molloy being a vampire is objectively terrifying. This is a guy who, as a mortal:
- Followed a stranger to a second location in peak serial killer era California.
- Was down to fuck in a coffin.
- Was down for fangs in his neck.
- Consistently interviewed dangerous or powerful people and was antagonistic to them.
- Literally never stopped when on the hunt for a story to the point it destroyed his personal life.
- Got on a plane in the middle of a pandemic with a degenerative disease because the guy he barely remembers following to some place on Divisadero, who he knows is an immortal killing machine, is offering Daniel his story and this also means Daniel could get some clarity on his fucked up memory.
- Has a big fucking mouth. He will just say fucking anything regardless of it being inappropriate.
- Has a fantastic bullshit radar.
- Beat a professional gaslighter at 3D chess.
...and then said powerful 514yo gaslighter gives this man litres of his, essentially, untouched blood and makes him his fledgling? Like...INSANE.
Daniel is, no doubt, EXTREMELY powerful and with a personality type that will probably make him a good vampire. Absolutely terrifying...and hot. God I hope he's still "sun challenged."
the person that decided to give all of these fuckass vampires ipads is literally a genius and the funniest person alive
They all play Minecraft together in a server and it’s 99% Daniel and Lestat fucking up all the hard work Armand spent building a kick ass castle or something and Louis having to help rebuild it while laughing the entire time
broke: assad played armand that way because dm happened and he sees young daniel whenever he looks at daniel now and that's why he smiles like that in that scene it was all kind of a preparation for the reveal in s3 and writing makes sense too if you think-
woke: assad wants dm to happen so much that he thought if he plays like it did and makes it believable enough writers could be manipulated into writing it

I love how when someone accuses Armand of ANYTHING, Assad starts passionately defending Armand’s complexity and dropping f-bombs in the middle of interviews.
Assad is matching Sam Reid’s level of character obsession, and he’s the hero and advocate Armand needs.
every season the evilest vampire gets to rock a cunty little bob. last season lestat got the bob, now it's armands turn. heavy is the head that wears the cunty little bob
LOUIS' HALLUCINATION OF LESTAT WITH BLOOD TEARS IN HIS EYES AS HE RECITES HIS LETTER TO LOUIS THAT BEGS HIM NOT TO AVENGE HIS DEATH BC NEVER IN HIS WILDEST DREAMS DID HE IMAGINE THAT LOUIS WOULD BE THE ONE TO KILL HIM
I FEEL SICK
DEATH WOULD BE KINDER

this is what is going on inside my head 24/7
its the way he goes from being genre-evil to being EVIL evil. we can't really internalize like, theatrical bloodsucking. but you know what we CAN feel? viscerally? domestic violence bestie. we can't fully "get" the trojan war but we sure can GET the evil-evil of forcing your daughter to that altar. VISCERAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope we all morph genre-evil into EVIL evil this year! like on the animorphs covers. cuz it's not just coming out the gate with evil-evil (game of thrones did this and it didnt work. that's where you get into "gritty" territory). it's saying oh teehee this is genre violence!!! aaaah blood and gore haha. what a fun villain :) and then Iphigenia is screaming dad what are you doing stop what are you doing and running up the stairs on a broken leg and so forth. and then it is not genre-evil anymore at the fuck all. its the lifting of the scrim of theatricality. you can see the blocking tape on the stage
@fishslappping how can you leave this in the tags:
#THIS is why I really feel like that scene was important for the wider television audience tbqh#like audiences aren’t stupid as a whole BUT as a member of the white audience like…we probably do inherently not feel as much empathy#toward characters of color like….not necessarily because we don’t care but because violence against people of color is soooooo normalized#and there is FOR SURE something to be said for so graphically brutalizing a black man in that way#and I’m not the right person to make further commentary toward that#but like…white audiences are going to find more fault with Louis and Claudia than Lestat#and giving him this TRULY disgusting and irredeemable moment shocks the people who aren’t as critical of him as they are of Louis and claudi#like it made EVERYONE uncomfortable and they ABSOLUTELY should have had a tw before the episode because it was so real (minus the….flying….)#but the most important thing is that it really put Lestat in the villain role where he DEFO is in iwtv#like he’s…not an antihero in Louis’s story whatsoever#he is A BAD BAD BAD GUY#and then there’s more nuance added to lestat’s story in later books (soooo much)#but he still did TERRIBLE things#and that’s not an excuse that immediately resolves him but it’s the reasoning which is what makes a REALLY COMPLEX AND FUN CHARACTER#I looooove Lestat as a character but I would never want to interact with him at fucking all#can you imagine how many eggshells you’d have to walk on around him it would be EXHAUSTING#but anyway that’s what I think is so fun about the vc books#you’re always in a moral dilemma trying to reconcile with loving and rooting for these absolutey nasty fucking creatures#god I wish I was gifted with the gift of words lmao but I have feelings I can’t articulate#anyway that scene was horrific but I think it was an important jolt for us white audience members specifically#which is gross in itself that we’d need that but like…….I really don’t think it’s wrong….:/#I’m sure there are ✨*feminists✨out there who hate Louis for being a brothel owner yet Stan Lestat#lmao at least until he abuses Antoinette#ANYWAY…..#interview with the vampire#racism tw
Yup! This is exactly what many fans of colour have been talking about for months, like in this post that explains it perfectly. There was also this great article that I always link to because it puts it into words so well.
The writers were well aware of that racial bias would make it harder for the audience to empathize with Louis and Claudia. White audiences are often desensitized to violence perpetrated against black characters, especially when it's done by a much beloved white character. The writers understood that the violence needed to be made explicit so as to leave no wiggle room for fans to rationalize or excuse it.
Despite how heavy handed it was, some fans still find a way to rationalize it by shifting the blame onto Louis and Claudia or coming up with wild theories about how Rashid/ Armand is somehow responsible for all of it. They simply refuse to accept that their beloved white fave is capable to reprehensible things, even though both the book and the show tell us, in no uncertain terms that – yes, Lestat is indeed the villain of this particular story.
That may and probably will change in later seasons – similar to how it does in the books, but it was by no means the show "betraying canon" or "ruining Lestat's character". The violence has always been there, it's just that some fans chose to disregard it until it was shoved right in their faces.
