The loneliness epidemic is a very real thing and contrary to popular belief, it's not even remotely about pussy/sex the way a lot of people online try to make it seem. It's affecting both genders across the board and it is most present in the most developed countries on the planet. People are becoming more isolated from each other each day.
actually I think you should be normal about ordinary citizens of authoritarian countries and yes that applies even to that country you're thinking of right now
"but they support [dictator] and [violent action]!" okay is it possible that a combination of propaganda, election rigging, and authoritarian crackdowns on dissent could lead a population to look like it supports something most people would find distasteful under more reasonable circumstances
i hate saying âi love video gamesâ because imagine a world where you say âi love cinemaâ and everyone automatically assumes you only mean marvel movies. like, not even in a bad way, but they donât think it could mean anything else
and thatâs what it feels like to say you love video games

Just Brick inspecting her namesake! <3
on sharing one's opinons
I won't dehumanize or wish death on someone for adultery, but some people have got stop acting like this type of behavior is just a "mistake" and not a very deliberate choice, a very shitty one at that.
Cheating is breaking trust with your partner. It doesn't rate being stoned in the village square or shunning, but it is betraying someone you're in a relationship with and shouldn't just be brushed off as nothing.

hey parents: there is literally no non-abusive reason a person would want the ability to read someoneâs emails, track their location, and go through their calls and text messages without their knowledge or consent.
I want to address the person who tagged this âwhat if theyâre missing??â
Google Trusted Contacts.
thatâs it, thatâs the answer.
what this does is allow you to set up a list of people who are able to request your location. when they do so, you have five minutes to either refuse or grant the request. if you donât respond within five minutes, the request is automatically accepted, in case youâre hurt or otherwise unable to get to your phone. your trusted contacts can also see how recently you used your device.
in other words: if someone genuinely wants to know if youâre okay, they can check the app and see that youâve used your phone five minutes ago, and that can be the end of it. if they want to be doubly sure, or it says you havenât used your phone recently, they can request your location. if you want them to know where you are, or you canât answer, theyâll have your exact location within five minutes. if you donât want them to know where you are, you click deny, and they still see that you got the request and responded to it, meaning, again, they know youâre okay. this is safety with accountability: you canât track someoneâs location without their consent unless they fail to respond to the notification, and you canât do it without them knowing about it.
if you want to track a friend or loved one for genuine safety reasons, set this up. it gives you all the access you need if your concern is actually for the other personâs well-being, rather than a desire for control. (itâs not out for iOS yet, but Google says thatâs coming soon).
(also: donât be the jackass that makes a rule that someone has to accept all your location requests because that makes you just as bad as the people who install tracking shit covertly.)
Itâs not abusive in any way for a parent to want to know where their underage child is and who theyâre talking to, and saying so is a foul misuse of the term âabuseâ.
anyway like I said there is literally no non-abusive reason a person would want the ability to read someoneâs emails, track their location, and go through their calls and text messages without their knowledge or consent
Iâm glad you live in a world where adults donât groom kids on the net, or by calling them or sending them text messages.
I live in this world:
a world where parents are an order of magnitude more dangerous to children than âadults grooming them on the internetâ, and giving parents unchecked powers of surveillance is for that reason alone more likely to put kids at risk than to keep them safe.
I live in this world:
a world where the psychologically debilitating effects of surveillance are well-established and well-known, yet adults do everything in their power to invade young peopleâs privacy and then ask dumbass questions like âwhy are kids so anxious?â and come up with answers like âitâs probably because of selfiesâ
I live in this world:
a world where invasion of privacy is recognized as an integral part of emotional abuse, but parents still get away with it because âtheyâre just doing it to keep them safe uwu~â, despite the fact that this is the same line the goddamn NSA gives us and most of us donât take that sack of lies from them.
tldr, I live in a world where youâre not just wrong, youâre promoting attitudes that are actively harmful and you need to sit down, shut up, and listen when people are trying to educate you about issues of justice and safety.
I'm sure I've made this point before, but there's a pervasive brand of internet lefty that can't seem to perceive art as anything other than propaganda, and if it doesn't register to them as propaganda that supports their politics, then it has to be propaganda against their politics.
Like when people argue whether warhammer 40k is fascist propaganda that says that fascism is good, or if it's actually a satire of fascist propaganda saying that fascism is bad. When it isn't really either of those things. That's not what it's going for and that's not what it's doing. It's got satirical elements floating around in there in varying degrees depending on era and author, but the point of them isn't to instruct the audience whether fascism is bad - it's for drama, and mood, and weird interestingness, and humour, and all the other reasons why things are in art other than political and moral instruction. It portrays a bunch of fucked up stuff connected by in-setting circumstance and lets you make your own mind about it, or just let yourself think "damn that's fucked up" and leave it at that.
It's not even, like, complex, by almost any literary standard. It's the same thing with them being unable to understand marvel movies, literally the most accessible movies ever made, when they crack out the most basic #101 nuance for teenagers where a villain has a sympathetic motive or a hero makes a mistake, and they can't really understand it, thinking that because the villain has a sympathetic quality then the movie is trying to demonise that sympathetic quality, because they assume that the film is operating at the level of basic propaganda, when it's, like, even slightly above that.
And they talk so much about being Media Literate and the importance of Media Literacy, in a way that makes them vastly, vastly less capable of understanding media, crunching down all the myriad ways you can interpret things into the simplest and stupidest form of idea, which is so galling when you compare it to the *actual* form of Media Literacy, the beautiful gemstone with its thousand-and-one beautiful shimmering facets!
The push for 'all art/entertainment is always political' I'd say is to blame for this. Nothing can be just there, you have to always break it down in such a way that it supports YOU.
Because if it doesn't support you...., what does it do? That's right it's against you. Which makes it bad.
And why would you, a good person, be interacting with something that's bad. You wouldn't. Unless you were a bad person.
Which you aren't. Are you? And you have to prove you aren't by showing why the thing supports you or calling out how bad it is.
Honestly? Yes. All of this.
And yeah, if it applies for everyone to be a certain race, I'm for that too. I'm not even picky when it comes to whites. If it's set in pre Columbian America, I want all natives, in Africa or the Middle East, I want all of those people.
If someone of another race is there, all I ask for is a reason which fits the time and place. It's not hard.
Hiring the correct ethnicity for the well-documented historical region is obvious to any observer, easily achieved, and costs the same as hiring any other race. Making every outfit out of period accurate materials with period accurate methods is not. This is a lazy false equivalency. Pretending people never wore makeup before the year 20XX is a special kind of asinine. HEMA groups get shit wrong all the time, and movies do try to hire consultants and martial artists. I can't think of a single medieval film that didn't use instruments that have existed for centuries.
