hii, honestly idk what to write so i'll (hopefully) teach you guys something (though maybe you don't need it, but oh well).
music theory is kinda broad, so for now i'll write about intervals, yay

definition → the distance between two notes
categories → major and perfect
- in the major category, there are 4 types of intervals: augmented (x), major (+), minor (-), and diminished (°). and the intervals of major are 2, 3, 6, and 7.
- in the perfect category, there are 3 types of intervals: augmented (x), perfect (P), and diminished (°). and the intervals of perfect are 1, 4, 5, and 8.
+ = major → stays in the scale (only for M) – = minor → goes down a semitone (only for M) ° = diminished → 1. goes down a semitone (only for P). 2. goes down two semitones (only for M) x = augmented → goes up a semitone P = perfect → it's like the + (major) version in the perfect category
examples (i'm sorry, i can't explain stuff well without examples), all of the examples are going to use the major scale.
in the D major scale (D, E, F#, G, A, B, C#), the B is a B natural, instead of a Bb. and since B is the sixth note of the D major scale, then it's a 6 interval. and because it is a 6 interval, it is in the major scale. and since it's a semitone down, it's a -6 interval (minor 6). a semitone down means going down half a note, like from D to Db (D flat), if it's a tone down then it's going to be C (from D).
okay i'm gonna write this in step by step (i'm sorry, i really don't know how to properly teach someone)
we need to count the interval. F major scale: F, G, A, Bb, C, D, E) and from that we get F to C is 5 intervals
we need to determine is the note in the original scale or not. since in the F major scale the C is a C natural, so yes it is in the original scale
if it is in the original scale, we can now determine what kind of interval it is. okay so we got 5, which means it is in the perfect category, and nothing changed to the note (still a C natural in both the question and scale) then we can declare that it is the P5 interval (perfect 5)
count the interval. Bb major scale: Bb, C, D, Eb, F, G, A. it's a 4!
determine is it in the original scale or not. it is not! in the question, it's E, however in the original scale, it's Eb (E flat)
if it's not in the original scale, we have to determine is it going down or up. it's going up! Eb to E is a semitone up.
now, we determine what kind of interval is that. first, we know that it's 4 interval, which means it's in the prefect category. second, we know it's going up, which means we get the augmented interval. finally, we can say that Bb → E is a x4 interval.
count the interval. C major scale: C, D, E, F, G, A, B. it's a 5!
determine is it in the original scale or not. it is not! in the original scale, it's a natural G, however in the question it's a Gb (G flat)
if it's not in the original scale, we have to determine is it going down or up. it's going down! G to Gb is a semitone down.
determine what kind of interval is that. first, we have a 5 interval, which means that it's in the perfect category. second, in the perfect category, going down a semitone means it's a diminished interval. finally, put all of that together then we get a °5 interval!
count the interval. G major scale: G, A, B, C, D, E, F#. it's a 2!
determine is it in the original scale or not. it is!
if it is in the original scale, determine what kind of interval is that. first, we know it's a 2 interval, so that means it's in the major category. second, it is in the original scale, so no changes. finally, put all of that together then we get a +2 interval!
