Gambit and Rogue

Hey just remember the only things we ACTUALLY know about Luke’s death and burial within the textual evidence is that:

1- he deathbed confessed he was gonna try for the isles of the blessed and be reborn because even in death, he was deluded into thinking he’d done no wrong.

and 2- the Fates came for his BODY and that Hermes whispered a blessing to the corpse before it was taken away.

I shared the lineart of this on my instagram stories and included a poll on if I should make it cute or angsty. Cute won so hopefully I delivered on that. 🌸

For those of you who aren't aware, Adriana Smith was taken off life support (June 17) after a C-section was administered to prematurely birth her child on June 13. The baby is alive and being monitored in the NICU. Her family will finally be able to bury their daughter.

So absorbing like Archangel did not work, but it creates a door into Deathbit's mind. Nightcrawler and other X-Men fight Deathbit's physical body to distract him, while Jean send Rogue's consciousness into Deathbit's mind to save Remy.

The mind is a mess: there is a distorted version of Happy Nation while Remy's soul is reliving his worst fears on loop (not being worthy, rogue not loving him, atrocities Death did with Gambit's body). Death's soul is there doing some serious negative self-talk to Remy.

Rogue reaches Remy, but he cannot see or hear her. She tries to give him the I Know You Are In There speech, but he is still not responding. Death is smug, laughing at her desperate attempts, tells her it's useless etc. Time is running out and Rogue is determined to have her swamp rat back so she takes a gamble (pun intended): she takes off her gloves and takes Remy's face, but instead of taking his powers, she actually focuses on sharing her memories and feelings into him (and it works because Their Soul Are Touching and the rules in a mind are different).

Remy is now seeing her, but still confused. She has tears in her eyes while she confesses to him, saying everything she wanted to tell him. He finally recognizes her, they share a Big Damn Kiss.

Death's soul is being disintegrating a la Seto Kaiba.

As someone who was raised by a young mother that didn't get to go to college, because she got 2 kids at 18-20, but then went to college in her early/mid 30s when me and my sister were old enough to be left home alone, it just feels really insulting.

It really adds to the harmful mindset that someone's life, especially that of women, is over if they haven't "got their life together" yet before the age of 25.

There would've been no harm in Nani delaying college for like 5-10 years, instead of abandoning her sister during the most vital years of her development only 2-3 months after already having lost her parents. Animated Nani would never.
