So I started this sketch absolute ages ago (last November or so) but only got around to finishing it this past month. I was going through old sketches and this one drew me back in. I had a lot of fun last time I did a drawing based off an old painting (Fallen Angel for anyone curious), and this one was equally fun.

The original painting (posted below the cut), entitled "The Meeting on the Turret Stairs" was done in gouache by Frederic William Burton. Reading up on the history behind the image reminded me of my old art classes. I honestly kind of miss it and probably will do more of these down the line (open to ideas/suggestions!).

I'm not sure how popular Rogue and Gambit's Excalibur looks are. But I personally love them! The layers and overall style is super fun (and honestly looks pretty comfy). I also LOVED that Rogue's cape has a somewhat similar feel to the dress from the original.

So excited to share this commission (that I did back in January 😅) for an adorable Christmas story called "closer through the seasons" (on ao3 under Julia456). This particular scene takes place near the end. I had the best time working on this drawing and highly recommend checking out Julia's story if you like cute Evo Romy. 😍

Been trying to challenge myself to stick to quicker drawings just so I can actually find time to draw. Still find myself sinking more time than planned and chasing perfection. I'm having fun though so I suppose that counts for something.

Romy and Angst go hand in hand, it's unavoidable (I don't make the rules).

On a real note, I've mentioned before how much I appreciate when the topic of loss and grief is touched on in media (in a thoughtful/meaningful manner). It's such a human experience and there's something comforting(?) about seeing characters both struggling/surviving it.

The stained glass X-Men series continues! I was really excited (and a touch nervous) about doing Storm's piece. I knew I wanted to include her lightening powers and I wasn't sure how I wanted to depict them. Additionally I was worried layering the storm clouds, wind, rain and lightening would be too busy. I think the end result works though! I love how flowy her outfit is in mid flight and her hair was such a dream. Ororo's hair always looks incredible though. I'm certain I'll draw her again.

I'm so glad we've gotten to see more of Nightcrawler in X-Men 97! I always enjoyed Kurt's episodes in the 90s animated show (and Evolutions) and I'll never complain about getting more Nightcrawler! 💙 (I don't see people mention Wolverine and the X-Men but I also really like Kurt in that one too!)

Wanting to eventually come back and draw Kurt with some of the other X-Men. (Rogue for sure! Maybe Jubilee or Logan eventually?? Open to ideas!)

Working on some X-Men stained glass drawings (*cough* Kurt is next *cough*) but still got some Romy drawings in various stages of completion!

Jubilee has been one of my favorite X-Men since the original 90s animated X-Men series so it only seemed right that she was one of the first X-Men I tried in the stained glass style. It's been really cool to see the character grow in Xmen97.

It took some time to figure out how I wanted to depict her fireworks, but I think the final effect is fun! Any excuse for lots of colors is a win to me.

Thrilled to see all the Jubilee hype/love since season 2 premiered. She deserves more love! (Still a bit miffed we didn't get a Jubj little people figure 😭)

Happy premier day for season 2 of X-Men 97!

Wanted to draw something from season 1 to celebrate, and I realized I haven't drawn enough "happy alternatives" of Rogue and Gambit in these outfits. The colors were really fun to play around with. The original scenery has so much vibrancy and color!

So who thinks 'The Dead Man's Hand' will give us some Deathbit/Gambit? I'm excited to see what season 2 has in store for us but really hoping we get some Rogue and Gambit crumbs.

This was take one on the theme "I love you too much to die twice" from the Romy Con Quick Challenge. I still really like it (and had a lot of fun with it). However I am really glad I ultimately went for the stained glass style.

Looking back at both pieces it's funny to see how green and purple were prominent in each. This one has a much more storybook feel to it.

Can't believe X-Men 97 season 2 is just around the corner!!

I feel like I barely had a chance to participate in Romy Con this year but the little bit I did was super fun! Already looking forward to the 2027 Romy Con!

One of the events I did get a chance to join in on was the quick challenge where participants had a few days to draw or write something based on the given prompt. This year the theme was "I love you too much to die twice."

I couldn't resist such a perfect angst prompt. I drew a quick drawing on the first day but I didn't love it. So the next morning I started on the drawing I really wanted to do but feared I wouldn't have time for (of course a stained glass piece). Somehow everything fell into place and I really enjoyed taking the time to fine-tune it (so thankful for amazing friends and my sister for giving me feedback/fresh perspective!). I love it in all its angsty glory.

I tried to leave it slightly open for interpretation. I would be really curious to hear people's thoughts on the "story" behind the drawing if anyone feels like sharing.

Thanks for the fun challenge Romy Con ( @punkerduckiememes ). It's such fun to see what everyone comes up with. Similar to Rogue Gambit Week it forces me to create within the confines of a prompt.

Day seven (and final day) of Rogue and Gambit week. Today is a free day and I immediately knew I had to do their vows (X-Men Gold 30). Their wedding will forever be one of the most iconic Romy moments.

Since today is the last day of Rogue Gambit week I just want to say an thanks for all the support and love this week! This marks about a year since I started posting my Romy art regularly and the community has been amazing all around. So thankful for all my Romy friends, you guys mean a lot to me!

Day six of Rogue Gambit week ( @roguegambitweek ) and today's prompt is: “Never use last with us.” (Rogue and Gambit #4).

This was one of the first drawings I did after my first stained glass drawing (I did all the drawings about a month ahead of Romy week). I originally planned to do 1-3 drawings but once I got started I couldn't stop and felt like I needed to do the whole collection. It was a good challenge. Some prompts came more easily to me than others but figuring out the concept and colors (trying to make them all different) was so much fun.

Rogue and Gambit week really is something I look forward to every year. The addition of Romy Con is fun too. This year I haven't been able to participate and interact as much (busy soaking up those newborn snuggles), but I still had such a blast and am looking forward to 2027!!
