Brandon Ralph: Resistance
The dense, textural poly rhythms created via a series of homemade electronics, vintage delay units, self oscillating analog filters and highly sought after Russian mechanics. In this, balance, dissonance and controlled chaos are culled to create a multitude of both cerebral and cathartic washes. In place of traditional percussion, a driving sub bass greets the ears while a sharp and piercing lead stirs before meeting a clipping resonance and shotgun shells violently rattling against steel while a driven contact mic and delay cuts the signal chain and filters before giving way to germanium fuzz…
Brandon Ralph’s Resistance is a stirring exercise in contrast, balance, and the lack of.

Dive Signals - Plays [Static Reason]
‘Inspired by the likes of Erik Satie, Robert Fripp and Brian Eno, Plays circles around various thematic notions, while bringing in movements of free association, organic improv structures, jazz oriented dissonance and exercises in timbre... Angel Ortega aims to take to these extended techniques with a certain vigor.’

Dive signals is an experimental free form project from Orange County based musician Angel Ortega. It’s a bristling new project that circles around the notion of pure sonic experimentation; unfolding and exploring the chemistry and aesthetic that lies between various experimental genres in an effort to ultimately blur the lines between these complex subjects.
With inspiration taken from the likes of Erik Satie, Robert Fripp and Brian Eno, Dive Signals is now hitting out with ‘Plays’, a stunning new LP that will be due out in March of this year.
It’s an experiment album, one that circles around various thematic notions, while bringing in movements of free association, organic improvised structures, jazz oriented dissonance and exercises in timbre.
You can hear one of the standout tracks above, the seminal and cerebral ‘Int Lapse’, and preview a few more equally engaging anthems from Dive Signals’ Bandcamp page - staticreason.bandcamp.com/album/plays

Dive Signals: Plays
Inspired by the likes of Erik Satie, Robert Fripp and Brian Eno, Plays circles around various thematic notions, while bringing in movements of free association, organic improv structures, jazz oriented dissonance and exercises in timbre. With former Dive Signals artist at the helm, Angel Ortega aims to take to these extended techniques with emotional vigor.
In terms of sound, Ortega takles elements surrounding a surreal glow, dream-like haze or rather a pull, bearing tinges of music concrete with an electric shoegaze spin, this being said dive signals Plays looks to stand as both an engaging and cerebral listening experience.

Opacities // Control
Opacities is the main project of Bryan Schuessler (VRS, The Coast). While being rooted in the ambient genre, Opacities is very much an experimental project, blending elements of glitch, noise, industrial, and post rock. Being a guitarist by default, Schuessler revolves his compositions around a guitar/laptop combination. Other instrumentation includes acoustic guitar, synthesizer, drums, field recordings, homemade electronics and programming. Most notably on Control, Schuessler molds intricate, slowly evolving soundscapes that are both engaging yet subdued. The tracks displayed are based on loose structures with considerable improvisational leanings. The album tastefully shifts from multilayered complexity to striking minimalism, creating a dynamic and interesting experience that flows.

UK based sound artist Delusi delivers through his debut physical release Cataclysmia a series of vigorous soundscapes filled with glitch oriented cuts alongside pulsing waves of carefully crafted distortion. The album is dynamic and full in scope though not invasive nor extremely harsh. Delusi rather creates a certain emotional solace from his own presentation of chaos.
"Cataclysmia appropriately bridges the gap between the unsettling and the familiar, with organic sounds mingling with unearthly ambiance. While many of the frequencies Delusi shares with the listener are euphoric, their humming and crackling brings to mind dying stars exploding with one last radiant finale before achieving an ultimate silence"
-- Black Metal & Brews
"Just as apocalyptic warnings are being etched into the sky by meteor trails and patterns of alien light, my skull is being ravaged by all manner of scuttling bugs and electric shocks."
-- ATTN:Mag
"Sonically expansive and aurally immersive, Delusi’s debut disc makes a solid impression. Cataclysmia represents an artist already on top of his game…"
