today, 6.26.26, i am releasing my most recent album of music, titled “ugly violet sings a song of revelation.” this instrumental concept album of guitar-based music somewhere between the genres of shoegaze, post-rock, drone metal, and prog rock mixes together feedback, distortion, and field recordings to tell the story of a world that is ending over and over again.
“ugly violet sings a song of revelation” is about bubbles popping and eggs cracking and heads being smashed open. it is about living as an object of disgust and discomfort and inconvenience. it is about how many of my friends are dead. it is about setting yourself on fire and being smothered out again and again. it is about not being listened to or believed no matter how many times you repeat yourself. it is about breathing in and out, in and out, in and out.
this album is a palindrome, meaning that it sounds exactly the same whether played backwards or forwards. practically, this means that the second half of the album is the reverse of the first half. this is all meant to be experienced as one cohesive piece of music, and can be considered to be either one, two, or six songs depending on how you are feeling. the two halves of the album can be listened to in either order. it was recorded in my basement, and i played all of the instruments.
may this wretched empire fall soon,
