Hello! As you all know, Daft Punk has been working with The Weeknd and been featured in live performances (The 59th Grammy Awards) as well as music videos (Starboy, IFIC) over the past few months. Their activity has presented an opportunity for new content and new hype in the robots for fans old and new. We have taken notice in the excitement and after much consideration, we have decided to add another era to the zine: STARBOY!
This decision comes a little more than two months before the final deadline. We understand that it is not a lot of time, but we would like to extend the offer regardless! If there are artists who feel they would have enough time to create an original piece and meet the deadline, we encourage you to apply. To summarize, here is some basic information about the zine:
It is a non-profit charity zine that will be released in mid 2017
Proceeds will be going towards Music Unites
Approximately 70 people will be involved if we reach our goal*
We are looking for both digital and traditional artwork as well as comics and illustrations
The art for the zine will focus on the six eras in Daft Punkโs history: Homework (1993-99), Discovery (1999-2004), Human After All (2004-2008), Tron (2008-2011), and Random Access Memories (2011-2016), AND STARBOY (2016-Present)*
Finished artwork MUST be submitted by May 30th

APPLICANTS WILL BE ASSIGNED STARBOY ERA AUTOMATICALLY
*POTENTIAL DRAWBACKS (IMPORTANT IMPORTANT IMPORTANT):
In order to create another era for the zine, we will need to have the same amount of artists as the others to keep it balanced and fair. Because of this, we are looking for 12 ARTISTS to add to the zine. However, adding another era comes with a catch: If the number of artists we need is not met, we will NOT be adding Starboy Era to the zine. Artists who apply MUST be aware that we may or may not add them depending on the applications we receive. Please do not be discouraged if this happens! If the goal is met, we will be sending out emails to accepted artists ONLY as soon as the twelfth artist is picked. No one will be notified until all twelve artists are chosen. Also note that we will be going through applications as soon as we receive them. Please remember that the sooner you apply, the sooner we will hopefully reach our goal and the more time artists will have to work on their submissions! Again, if the goal is reached and you are not selected, please do not be discouraged!
The third check in for the zine will be taking place on March 25th. Ideally if we are able to add Starboy Era to the zine, new artists will be required to share their concepts and sketches/thumbnails for the March 25th check in. But this all depends on how soon we receive applications and if we meet our goal in time. As of right now, we do not have a cut off time for applications. Please note that the longer we wait to receive applications, the less time new artists will have to work on their submissions. If enough time has passed and we have had yet to receive the twelve artists we need, we will formally announce that the goal was not reached.
