Okay, yâall know what else is dumb and unfair about this?
This nonsense about âEntrapta betrayed us!â
Hereâs the thing: when one looks at the timeline of Entrapta receiving information about the situation, one can see that this accusation is inappropriate.Â
S1E10: Entrapta is discovered in the Fright Zone by Catra and Scorpia; she is told that the princesses left her behind. At this point, she is the one who, as far as she knows, has been betrayed.
S2E2: Bow and Glimmer find out that Entrapta is alive and working for the Horde. They register this as her betraying them. At no point do they explain that they left her behind accidentally. Entrapta is still operating under the assumption that she has been betrayed.
S2E5: Bow spouts some pseudo-moral/âdonât mess with things you donât understand!â nonsense at Entrapta in the Northern Reach, which is worthless because she is a scientist, and assessing things she does not understand is like, the point of her life. Yet again, no one tells her that the âbetrayalâ was an accident.
S3E4: Adora finally, finally tells Entrapta what happened: that they made a mistake, that they thought she was dead, that they never meant to leave her behind, and that Catra has been lying to her. This is the first time anyone has actually told her that she has not been intentionally betrayed. The end result of this is that Entrapta listens to Adora, reassesses her work, and realizes that the portal is a bust. She tries to go warn Hordak and is back-stabbed by Catra.
S4E1 - S4E11: Entrapta is on Beast Island. She cannot be actively âbetrayingâ the princesses because she is no longer with the Horde; she has been tossed aside in Catraâs bid for beating Adora. She likewise cannot fix any broken relationships because she is stranded on Beast Island.
So, the conclusion of this: the entire time Entrapta is supposedly âbetrayingâ the Alliance, she is operating under the assumption that she has been betrayed. You canât say that sheâs âbetrayingâ them when, as far as she knows, she has been thrown away by them. You canât⌠like⌠betray a person that has already betrayed you first. You no longer have any sort of allegiance with them. Thereâs no longer any bond to break.
The Alliance acts as if Entrapta looked at them, looked at the Horde, and chose the Horde because the Horde had fancier tech. Whereas what actually happened is that Entrapta looked at them, believed that they had rejected her, and looked at the Horde, which offered her a safe, respected place (and a cuddly spacebat), and chose the people who seemed to value her and had not apparently tossed her aside.
No one thought to rectify this error until Adora explained it at the end of season three. And Entrapta didnât have time to try to mend bridges because Catra sent her to Beast Island immediately afterwards.
Instead, the Alliance goes on and on about how Entrapta âbetrayedâ them without ever taking a moment to confirm that that is truly what she did. Instead of trying to understand her viewpoint and her way of seeing/interacting with the world, they immediately assume the worst of her and write her off as a lost cause. Which, more than anything, I think, demonstrates exactly how much they really care about her: barely at all.
