not she berry or he berry but no berry
and that is berry good
having sex with your friends is so very normal please stop poisoning the youths minds with shame surrounding hooking up with your friends. especially if you’re gay
people are so fucking mad in the notes that adults have sex with each other and aren’t married sometimes. yall are carbon copies of your conservative parents and you’re so proud of it. ewwww
calling the sex I have with my friends “hookup culture” is insulting and incorrect. these are guys who take care of me and take me on dates and watch fun movies with me. being a disabled faggot too, they help me clean my place and take my trash out for me. they care for me and are on my emergency contact lists. trying to slap the label of “todays hookup culture!!!” on it is diminishing and devaluing those relationships
secondly, gay and bi men have been fucking all their friends and cruising and hooking up with total strangers since LLOOONGGGG before you were born and will continue doing so LLOOONGGG after you die. it’s never been a trend or a fad for us. It’s just a way of life for some of us and you aren’t going to change that by being disgusted by it
this tag has me in stitches
Has either of your parents ever accidentally called you/your siblings the wrong name? (someone else's name, like other sibling, pet, etc)
Yes, at least once
No, but I've seen it happen to someone else
No, never
I don't have pets/siblings/parents/hair
I forgot to clarify that this excludes deanaming you if you've changed your name. I specifically meant the "brain offers the wrong word" kind of accidental name mix-up.
This was prompted by me and my boyfriend discussing handedness and being able to tell apart left and right. And me, being ambidextrous, was baffled by how do people with an obligate dominant hand mix up which side is the one with their Writing Hand and which one isn't?? And my boyfriend pointed out that I go "turn left - no I mean right" so much when giving directions that I have lost my navigator privileges.
I argued that mixing up the words isn't the same thing as mixing up the directions. Like if your mom accidentally called you the dog's name doesn't mean that she literally can't tell you apart from the dog. And he looked at me like this
Because evidently not only has this never happened to him, he has never heard of this being a thing. And he was so confident in this that I had to double-check that I'm not the only person this has ever happened to.
My mum once went through both my brothers’ names, my cousin’s name and several of our neighbours’ names before getting to my name and then she mispronounced it.
She’s not lived it down and it’s been over a decade.
i've been phasing the phrase 'google it' out of my vocabulary and going back to 'look it up'. fuck you youve lost your generic trademark privileges

When my mother forgets a word, she is the queen of coming up with new words. Words that would take a third National Treasure movie to fully decipher. I was talking to her yesterday, and she said this: “You know the time for los jibbities is coming up. You must be so excited!” Oh, is it time for los jibbities already? I must have missed it on my calendar. Are we celebrating something? “Of course! We should all be celebrating, shouldn’t we?” OK, so los jibbities is a happy thing. It’s not like something is giving you the heebie-jeebies, which would have been my one and only guess. “Los heebie-jeebies? Now you’re making things up...and this is my show.” You’re right. The time for los jibbities is coming up. Is this a season? “Yes, the season for love. The season for pride.” OK, los jibbities. “Yeah, sound it out.” Los…jibbities. LGBTs! “Sí, mira cuz you’re gay!” “You couldn’t just say pride season? You couldn’t just… *laughs*
HAPPY LOS JIBBITIES EVERYBODY!!!
The time for Los Jibbities has arrived!
"why suck a strap?" have we all forgotten the beauty of theatre? have we truly fallen so far as to think the mind mustn't be pleasured too?
i am nooooot locked the fuck in. im locked the fuck out. call the locksmith
I understand the jokes, I really do
but
too much acetaminophen absolutely incontrovertibly does cause liver damage
Their Autism: Tylenol is on the food pyramid now! Make sure to get a heapin' helpin' of that Vital Autism Fuel every day! [gif of MST3K Observers eating food pills like cereal]
My Autism: I know it's a joke I know it's a joke I know it's a joke do not do that you will die
this. Lol Jokes funny
but IRL do not do that. Strictly follow the label. Tylenol does not cause autism but like many things it can definitely cause organ failure if overdosed.
So be careful with the jokes because people in this entirely clout fixated side of the internet will totally do some kind of tiktok of them taking a bunch
because MANY people WILLFULLY lack not only any idea of consequences
but of cause and effect or their own mortality as well. You being funny and young and clever and Not Like Other People will not keep you from dying just like "an NPC", mkay?
And the level of "too much" is probably far lower than people realize
Most acetaminophen is in 500mg pills, to be taken no more than two pills no more frequently than every four hours. That's it. More pills at once, or less time between doses, starts getting to be more than the liver can handle. Acetaminophen is not just in Tylenol, but in other OTC medicines like Motrin, too, so it's possible to take a double dose without realizing. Add alcohol to the mix and the liver suffers more.
Johnson & Johnson have been sued many times for not accurately conveying how harmful Tylenol can be to the liver
Wait what? Motrin is Ibuprofen... *quick search* Well shit, they do apparently have a Motrin dual action with Tylenol (thus clearly labelled, phew!) version. Good to know!
Harder to spot is how many of the "Headache" and "Migraine" meds are Aspirin + Acetaminophen + Caffeine. Excedrin, etc.
And of course, the part where Acetaminophen is also called things like Paracetemol... hang on, lemme just...
Drug: N-acetyl-para-aminophenol Generic names: Acetaminophen, Paracetamol, APAP Brands*: Actamin, Alvedon, Anacin AF, Aurophen, Bromo Seltzer, Calpol, Mapap, M-Pap, Panadol, Pharbetol, Silapap Childrens, Tactinal, Tempra Quicklets, Tycolene, Tylenol, Vitapap
* for just APAP itself. As noted above, there are countless other OTC and prescription drugs that contain APAP as one of multiple active ingredients.
The takeaway here is multi-layered, but the big one is:
ALWAYS CHECK THE ACTIVE INGREDIENTS OF YOUR MEDS
and secondarily check with your pharmacist or Drugs.com for drug interactions when you are taking multiple meds and supplements.
there's also acetaminophen in a lot of opiates, because clearly, adding an over-the-counter pain med that does fuck-all except for ensuring one can't safely take a higher dose of the useful but prescription-only pain med it's mixed with? best possible thing for chronic pain patients, obviously
I mean, it doesn't do nothing. Acetaminophen does a lot of things, including, apparently, altering how the brain processes suffering. IIRC they even discovered at one point it alters how the brain processes emotional suffering, which is just fuckin' wild.
A lot of meds are paired because while their primary known use may not be helpful, they have some secondary interaction that makes the primary action of the other med work better. I know someone who is taking a specific cough suppressant because it turns out it helps for major depression when paired with a specific antidepressant. Like WTF?
The bigger problem is not the pairing, but the rate at which doctors insist on treating the Hydrocodone + Tylenol in a single pill as the default, instead of choosing the specific opiate and whatever to pair it with on a case-by-case.
Last time I had surgery they gave me the opiates, NSAIDS, and Tylenol separately and had me alternate between them. It worked beautifully, and we could adjust each dose separately. And, gods forbid, we could switch to a different NSAID or opiate if the one we started with wasn't ideal. But for some reason too many doctors act like all opiates are identical. They're so not! Codeine works way better for me than Hydrocodone!
It's very personal! I get the anti-inflammatory use from Naproxen, but it doesn't do anything directly for pain, for me, whereas my sister has the same experience with Ibuprofen.
And a lot of meds do multiple totally different things for some reason? I take an antihistamine every day because it helps my anxiety. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
My conclusion is that meds are bizarre.
yeah valid, it's just that the only use I have for Tylenol is as a fever reducer
meanwhile the other month when I was in the hospital for a few days after complications of surgery, I was prescribed an opiate as-needed for pain, but I stopped asking once I was better enough that I was having ordinary bad pain days, because I wasn't going to keep having access to the good pain meds and I would like to keep "drug-seeking" out of my medical records
(that was also the week we proved I'm braver than any US police officer, bc the med they gave me for the one procedure was fentanyl)
When I got stitches I specifically requested: "my mother is an opioid addict and addiction runs in my family. Please prescribe me a non-opioid if you're giving me a painkiller."
I proceeded to deal with the first five days of stitches (those are the really awful ones) on OTC ibuprofen, because the fucker heard this and went "oh, I've got the perfect thing, OXYCONTIN."
since usamericans take up a large portion of the english-speaking internet when their elections happen, i think it’s only fair that i can put out a reminder to all kiwis out there to vote in our local body elections that are happening now until the 11th of october!! exercise your right to democracy!!!
