I adore your art so much, you draw spiderpool in such a cool way omg
I appreciate your kind comms!😭❤️
Here’s some more sketches!:D
I got a bit lazy w lights sorry-
I think it's really funny that the whole meme of Palworld is making unethical sweatshops to put cute little creatures in to work them to death, but doing so in game is so incredibly inefficient because they will stop doing work under those conditions and their simple ai will accidentally go on strike and force the player to build ways for them to relax and be happy in order for them to work well again.
Replacing the overworked pals isn't really a good option either. Breeding them is expensive (you need cake which takes a lot of workload and ingredients), good workers take high quality spheres to capture which needs more resources (catch rates are low for good pals). There are drugs to make them better workers and not complain, but once again it's more expensive to make drugs than it is to just give them breaks and good working conditions. Also, because of raids, you need your Pals in good condition to defend your base and weak recently caught/bred pals will just get wiped out. In the end, the optimal way to run your base is by making sure everyone is happy and healthy.
Just find it pretty funny that despite how edgy the "pokemon with guns and capitalism" game is that in the end it always boils down to love and care get things done way better than cruel slave labor.
One thing I appreciate about the new palworld release is that if you really just like a specific pal, but you still wanna minmax for stats or work suitability, there are plenty of options to unlock the potential of low-level pals.
Have a fuckin chicken with miserable IVs from the very beginning of the game, but it was your first catch and has a nickname and everything and now you're attached? You can make that the best goddamn chicken that ever lived with a combination of items. You can just minmax the fuck out of your favorite chicken. Max out its miserable 1-1-1 IVs. Put hella powerful dragon-type moves on that thing. Do whatever you want.
Or if you really like a specific species and want a bunch in your base but that species is just not really good at anything, you can work on that too. My current situation is that I'm in the late game and need a number of pals who are good at cooling machinery, because the best machines run hot. The pals that do the best cooling "out of the box" are Bastigor, but they're huge and take up a lot of space, use a lot of food, and are hard to catch. I really just don't care to use Bastigor. But I don't have to! I'm mass-breeding Icelyns and increasing their stats with condensation and handbooks instead!
I dig it this style of game design. Here's a bunch of creachurs and ways to customize them, now do whatever you want forever
I don't know why some people apparently need to hear this, but: Palworld does not need to be Pokemon!
You do not need to be given a special starter pal at the beginning of the game. Your "starter" is whatever you catch first. Use your fists!
And the bigger one some people won't shut up about: THE PALS DO NOT NEED TO EVOLVE!!! There are plenty of games with evolution mechanics, Palworld has no reason to be one of them. It's actually NICE to find a pal you like and not have to worry that it's going to turn into something you don't.
"Ugh, but wouldn't it be nice if the weaker pals evolved into something stronger?" There are pokemon that suck from the time you catch to their final evo and never get good. Meanwhile with breeding, condensing, and some choice items, you can make The Ultimate Chikipi and wreck shit with it.
They do not need to evolve. It does not need to be like pokemon. Let it go, or play a different game if you need it that bad.

A thing I love about palworld that a lot of streamers go "rawr, survival of the fittest!" And they're dead wrong.
And the game is at its core a game about how you can't do this on your own.
There are so many things you just cannot do. You cannot run the furnace, you cannot run the water wheel, you cannot swim that far, you cannot open some chests, you cannot make things at a reasonable rate. You will, if alone, perish.
And then they try to make it about slavery. The harder you push, the worse the conditions, the more you go down that route, the worse everything actually works.
You need to take care of them and in turn they will take care of you. Thats the thing. Thats always the thing. You build your community and they will support you. Thats the core of the game.
When you hop on the homie's palworld server and his home base is a tropical beach full of nothing but humanoid female pals with real human lady names
Don't mind me, just hanging with my 7 foot tall goat demon that kidnaps people while they're sleeping and drags them off to be horribly murdered. I have to keep her high off her ass at all times otherwise she just starts killing people but other than that she's pretty chill.
To quote my buddy on palworld: "The genius isn't in mixing collection, automation, and base building, it lies in making the automated systems cute, collectible, and customizable."
I think the palworld devs should submit the game to nintendo for a switch port. It doesn't have a chance in hell of actually getting approved but it would be very funny.

One thing I've noticed about Palworld is that there are very few pals that I don't like in some manner. Most are visually appealing but even those that aren't usually have some use or niche they fill that gets them consideration. Even just on a visual level there's usually something you can like about a design. With Pokemon it's pretty hit or miss the further you get from gen 1 with many of the later ones being very weird or downright ugly.
I also feel like the removal of evolutions from the formula has helped because you don't have to worry about making something a bigger and better version of something else. Each pal is its own thing and that really lets a design remain unique.
It's so weird seeing palworld go from what was characterized as a steamslop parody of pokemon full of slavery and slaughtering cute animals for fun into a fully fledged "open world pokemon meets survival crafting" concept that not only does what pokemon fans want better than nintendo can do, but also took the heat from the big N and came out unscathed. That's pretty fucking insane.
Like, this little indie game put together by a bunch of people who were making the game they wanted to play got so popular one of the biggest game companies on the planet saw them as a threat and tried to snuff them out like a mob boss putting out a cigar. But then players were finally getting the creature collecting game of the dreams so they rallied behind it and even other developers joined in and all that nintendo got for their trouble was a black mark on their reputation and pocket change, largely because their main tactic of having them burn all their money on legal fees failed and they didn't really plan for anything else in their hubris.
Oh, to be a fly on the wall at game freak as they make the next pokemon entries and watch from afar as palworld hits full release and just dumps all over their franchise like the dave matthews band on that boat. How do you compete with something that has no restraints and that fact is what people want? Palworld isn't a theme park experience with linear progression and all the "challenge" nested at the end of the game. It throws you into the world, tells you to survive and grow stronger, and then lets you go ham. You get to participate and work alongside your funky little creatures. You get to customize and empower them. You get to build a mini empire with them at your side. The world is hostile but you have your pals and together you're going to claw your way to the top of the food chain. Pokemon is a guided tour by comparison, and one so sanded down and inoffensive that it treats you like the child you play as. There are no mature alternatives so before it was either suck it up or kick rocks.
And then of course there's the tone. Pals can be violent and the factions you face are actively trying to murder and enslave their way to supremacy of the world. Some of the descriptions in the codex are downright horrifying. What do you mean this funny cartoon squid mummifies things by sucking out their guts? There's a goat demon that kidnaps people in the night and that's its most notable feature. NPCs talk about watching their friends get attacked and devoured by wild pals or lament about how tough surviving is. Everyone has guns and swords and creatures that can elementally annihilate you. Sometimes a pal's special skill is just pulling out a rocket launcher and turning some poor bastard in pasta sauce. That shit fucking rules. These are technically wild animals you are taming and turning into weapons. Violence is inherent. But being evil is a choice. You can be a cruel taskmaster or a psychopathic killer but everyone I know who plays treats their pals like their pets. They take good care of them and get upset when something happens to them. Investment in your pals and having to work alongside them to progress enables an emotional attachment that you kind of have to make up with pokemon, where your creatures are all essentially attack dogs for use in fights. Palworld is different. Not all pals are going to be in your party, many are going to be working at your base or are kept around as mounts, for utility like hauling materials, or even breeding purposes.
On that topic, some pals are purposefully sexually appealing (some by design and others by surprise). There's a whole joke about a separate dating sim where you date pals, which might be a real game someday. There are innumerable furrybait monsters to fulfill any deviant appetite and it's pretty clear at least a few people on the dev team weren't doing this just for laughs. The perverts are calling from inside the house on this one. People joke about certain pokemon appealing to the furries but that's the equivalent of stealing a cookie from the jar while nintendo isn't looking, and something they certainly don't care for. Pocketpair drops an entire pallet of cookies on your front lawn and says "call us for more, ya freaks". Say what you want about it, that tactic has definitely earned some die-hard fans.
I think the crux of palworld's success is that it gives players either what they want or something fresh in a corner of the game industry that has been monopolized so thoroughly that it has stagnated and keeps reusing the same formula from two decades ago. But the problem with keeping up that monopoly and relying on fans to consume your gruel as the only option is that when someone offers a much better dish, the blowback is going to be so much worse than you can imagine. People are going to realize that they don't need to engage with games that don't respect them or their time or their money and are going to flock to that which does. Pockepair stepped up with a passion project to fulfill a long-seated desire for a better experience and nintendo tried to beat them to death in front of everyone for daring to challenge them and got beat back. That's the kind of thing that sets a new standard and I'm curious to see if nintendo learns from this or tries to keep on their bullshit.
Full belief it was the hat of homophobia.
Some very eloquent notes on violence as a necessity for resistance.
There is no paradox of tolerance, because tolerance is not a matter of ethics. It's a peace treaty - an agreement that only covers the people who abide by its rules.
The title of this essay should disturb you. We have been brought up to believe that tolerating other people is one of the things you do if…
And for cis white guys who are always trying to figure out how to be an ally without talking over marginalized people, without reshaping the issue to be all about you - this guy shows how.
His tactics don't work for marginalized people. They can't get away with that.
