The singular old portrait that is on the wiki deeply bothers me, so I've revamped the last one I've made, which is Cheri's formalwear for spring!

This outfit is actually one of the oldest outfit designs I've made. I drew Cheri in it as part of a pose/sword study; a lot of things have changed since, but this outfit pretty much stayed the same design-wise. I only added some extra flair, adjusted colors, and replaced Cheri's regular boots with equestrian field boots (shown here ft. my current draft for the formal summer outfit, which made its debut on this blog in full color... in a shitpost, lol).

Cheri's official role in Mistria changes once you hit the 8-heart threshold (as an NPC) and a little bit after dating March (as the MC in my personal canon), in which they become a proper 'fixer'-slash-delegate for Mistria. They work closer with Balor to improve Mistria's connections with the outside world like establishing better trade routes and material suppliers and occasionally bodyguard duties if Adeline or Eiland travel out of town.

With the new obligations comes a need for more formal clothes, so all her kimonos bear three mon/crests, which you can see a bit of on the right sleeve. This crest does change after they marry March, but it's impossible to present at this resolution, so in a way I'm glad about the angle I chose for Cheri's portrait.

This change in occupation is also one of the reasons Cheri obtained Snow White — she needed a better means to commute to and from the Capital, not just for business but also personal reasons...

Additionally, this outfit is pretty straightforwardly a women's kimono and hakama, with little modifications to its construct and the way it is worn. It's one of the more visual turning points where Cheri begins to dress femme more often as she gets more comfortable with life in Mistria.

With this outfit, all of Cheri's older portraits have been revamped. I'm happy to announce that all future designs will be brand new portraits! One of my greatest achievements with the new portrait is that I have successfully rendered it without using Multiply, so the color palette is more consistent than the old portrait.

The game's got lines referencing various memes, so I'm allowed to do that too.
