This might be a controversial headcanon.... I think Wheedle would be into crypt0 coin scamming if we're talking a completely modern au 💀 when I imagine him and Fiore both more modern, I imagine it to be anywhere from the 1970s - very early 2000s (each modern drawing I do will probably be in a different time period just because I don't want to lock myself to a definitive time). The unfortunate (?) reality is that people and characters like the classic scammers who dress flashy are more of-the-past. Scammers don't have whimsy anymore….. So imo the crypt0 angle would be the most plausible but also the most boring, which is why I don't imagine them in a current-time au. He wouldn't even dress for the occasion, he'd probably just sit in pajamas while he stares at a screen. 😔

But if I am exploring the 90s/2000s instead, in terms of online-related scams and ads I could see chain email scams (the classics like the princes or the rich long-lost family members), fake sweepstakes, intrusive pop-ups/browser redirection, fake email newsletters, etc. But at the same time I don't see Wheedle as an EVIL-evil character. I think he would find it fun to scam rich people (I believe this is even mentioned in-game) but I don't see him as someone who would intentionally bankrupt and ruin the life of someone (unless he was crossed by them). I see him as more likely to use various methods at once to 'pool' earnings from many different sources, or simply franchise a business. He is a trickster-capitalist to me that does it for the love of the game.

But when I think of him and Fiore in a more modern era, I imagine them being very into telemarketing! Which is where I got their ship name Scam Likely.

For Fiore, this is actually funny because this enters the territory of her original (non-Fields of Mistria) character! The Fiore everyone is familiar with is actually an adaption I made of the original Fiore to better fit in with the world of Mistria. Mistria-Fiore is morally grey and prefers to present herself with more grace. She has a full character arc with growth and change. The original Fiore is in current-time and she is a more outright evil and scheming character, who never grows or changes. I won't go too much into her lore since it's a big side project @/Renamistria and I are working on still, but Original-Fiore is an online scammer that makes good use of her people skills. There's a reason why I felt it was necessary to pair Mistria-Fiore with Wheedle of all characters. Original-Fiore even wears the tacky suits!

Since Fiore in Mistria does rely on an audience, I think her skillset could still be transferred to the different types of scams Wheedle or her think up. She's an actor first and foremost, so she has no problem playing the role that she needs to play.

i've been trying different styles in my art journey and the panty & stocking artstyle has always been one of my favorites, so these are our fields of mistria OC's in a PSG inspired style ♡ i think it fits their dynamic and contrasting personalities too.

I feel like Celine would be the most affected by it. She seems like the type to get flustered over an endearing-sounding name.

My Farmer’s name is Hunie!

I occasionally wonder what the town thinks of Hunie’s name since it phonetically sounds like “Honey” or “Hunny.” Shouting it across town can feel embarrassing, and it’s not the kind of name you can say without it sounding a little sweet!!

March would absolutely refuse to say it IMO. He’d just go “Hey.” “You.” “Toss it over here.”

Valen / Balor / Reina: Would tease Hunie about it, but she knows what it sounds like and is completely unfazed.
