Niran's fear has always been to not fit in. It's something he got from the time his grandfather told him he wasn't Wu. He felt like he wasn't part of it. He hides his fear behind thick walls and appears as if he needs no one, but that's just a mask he is wearing. Deep down, he is also eager to be part of a group of people who would love him and not reject him. He doesn't want to feel alone. He yearns for being part of something.

Pete may have been angry at Niran when he thought he lied to him and wouldn't help saving his sister, but after he released the demon just to save her, he didn't hold on to the anger. In fact, he was ready to do anything to help Niran, once again. I've always viewed his quick anger as the result of his cohabitation with the demon in his body, because in fact, Pete seems to be the one who can forgive easily and who dedicate himself to the ones he loves. Pete isn't afraid of being vocal about how he feels. That's his true personality. It makes him the perfect "soul mate" for Niran who is more reserved and hides his fear, but also his joy. I guess their companionship in a broader sense of the world is helping both of them to get what the other has been missing in their life.
