While I was talking to a friend yesterday, I was able to pinpoint what it is that bothers me so much about modern-day GMMTV compared to how it was in 2020 when I became a fan. They were always poorly organized, so that's not new. Their strategy has always been to Throw Stuff at a Wall Until Something Sticks, so that's not new either.

What bothers me about now is that they have a lot more money, influence, and support from the government, so that poor management now has the potential to do a lot more harm. Authentic queer expression only happens under GMMTV's mantle when you're lucky enough to get a visionary in charge of a production who overrides the company's usual modus operandi.

Otherwise: heteronormative series under a rainbow coat of paint.

two years isnt a very long time, but it isnt a short time either. in those years, sky and nani werent always together, and yet, they managed to make time to personally know each other. as in know each other in a way thats always met with understanding. with so much care. with so much respect. that hey, we might be so different in a lot of ways, but lets make this thing work. and they did.

they worked things out not because people had forced them to, but because they were serious enough to learn one another. they took their encounter seriously and it led them to something so precious—so precious that they have created a safe space for each other, where they can simply put their guards down and be themselves because in that space, no one is going to ever judge them. because there is acceptance in the middle of them. an acceptance but never a compromise. a sense of care given to each other out of genuineness and not out of fragility. an understanding that wish to learn but never to dissect and leave you empty. because every single thing they know about each other... every single thing they share with one another, is a learning that will stay safe in one of the corners in their minds. and i would like to imagine them holding those information about each other dearly to their hearts.

i hope they will stay the same for a long time. i hope their friendship will last for a very long time. and i am glad that they have found a sanctuary in each other's presence.
