So currently I answer to my full first name (which I usually introduce myself with) as well as two nicknames/diminutives plus my last name when people mistake it for a first name. There are two or three other nicknames I've also gone by in the past. I'm perfectly fine with this, or neutral at minimum-- I have a common name and have had to be flexible with how I'm distinguished for my whole life. I also don't feel a deep and fundamental connection of my name with my identity, though I think going by another name entirely would confuse me.
A number of friends have been appalled at me being called names I don't say are my name. Which is really weird to me, although I'd go to battle for anyone else who was getting either deadnamed or called something they didn't want. But this perspective seems surprisingly common!
How do you feel about being called something other than the name you introduce yourself with?
I think it's fun if people give me (non-derogatory) nicknames or shorten my name
I don't care if people call me something else and will answer to it
I'm mildly uncomfortable or annoyed but won't make an issue of it
I HATE being called something else and will always correct people
they all have such similar vibes so of course they have very similar stages that cater well to their fans
plus they really feel like genuine friends having fun together wich really makes the experience feel more real
we joke about fff being the concert of the married couples, but they do genuinely have such good vibes and their fans also have very similar vibes so it all works so well. i know it's kind of corporate lingo, but they do have amazing synergy and play off each other so well. i'm really glad that we got them together for this concert.
and i'm also glad that bp managed to tangle themselves into the emfk polycule. i love that they made more friends.

the gem x ai anon here! my problem with the way ai is acting and how gen is falling in love with her is all the dub-con elements. Gen is always saying how Ai is just 3 weeks old, she covering her eyes while watching a nc scene on tv, acting like sheโs a kidโฆ but she is the one that kissed her first, she initiated it, she wanted to have sex with the robot after acting all weird and stuff. The Ai intentions is all about Gen, is her job to make Gen feel good and doesnโt matter what Gen do Ai will follow behind but it feels really awkward how things happened bcs you donโt feel that the robot is reaaally feeling feelings it just feels she is a robot doing what she supposed to do. Also, Gen saying when they were about to have sex that Ai started this which is such a weird line bcs Gen is the one wanting all this, not Ai bcs she doesnโt understand this kind of feeling.
so, my thing is: i feel like gen fell in love real quickly and doesnโt looks like ai is feeling things like humans or whatever, and the whole dubious consent that involves when the character is having sex/kissing robos. The latter if their interactions were made with time so we could feel with them it wouldnโt feel so out of place for me. I donโt know if you watched pluribus but something similar happens with the protagonist and the brown haired girl.
and about irene, is nice bcs is with a real person even if she is hiding something and liking ai eyes, is interesting for me. In the last ep, genโs friends come to her house knowing ai is a robot and they donโt think that their relationship is weird at all!
anyway, the relationship between gen and ai is boring and rushed, if they are supposed to be endgame i really hope their story becomes more interesting!
like i said before, it's not my place to tell you how you feel, so i'm going to be very honest with you and i hope you don't take it as a dig, but if it's the dubcon elements that bothering you, then i think that maybe the android/robot gl might not be for you since the beginning. it isn't my thing either! i wasn't even entertaining the idea of watching this show, but mmy did a very good job with love beyond dreams and i'm giving them the benefit of the doubt.
but again, i do have an issue when you say that irene is better because the only thing she has going for her is that she's a human. she's still violating gen's privacy by using ai's eyes and they only met twice so far i think (that we know of) and gen wasn't even aware it was irene in one of them.
if you intend on continuing the show, i would suggest just trusting they'll make more of ai than just gen's trusty companion/servant. she is showing signs of sentience and noticing changes to the way her controls run whenever she's too close to gen already anyway.
and i haven't watched pluribus yet, i do need to bc i know it's good, but i watched the first 10 minutes and decided that i need to be in a specific mind state to watch that show.
the way the relationship between ai and gen is poorly written, gen met ai like a week ago and is already falling in love letting the robot talk to her mother idk is weird but i think is all about how itโs shown and how well their development is, for now is weird and boring. iโm a genirene truther
its a romance, so them falling in love quick is honestly a walk in the park at this point and I don't really think gen let ai talk to her mom? now I still have to watch the second half of the last episode but it looked like ai talked to gen's mother out of her own will which is interesting since she's a robot thats supposed to only follow orders.
honestly tho, I see you and I hear you. its not my job or intention to sway you one way or another, but following your logic, gen and irene also have no development so far, besides the mostly one sided feelings irene appears to be developing for gen through ai's eyes which is its own brand of, as you put it, weird.

i really was going to shut up but ai is not chatgpt or the evil ai stuff. her human-android stuff falls under the typical sci-fi genre that has been used in medias for years
i've seen ppl in the tag, even before the series started airing, saying they're not gonna watch it 'cause it's (about) ai - it's not!!! not in the sense that ppl are thinking, at least
they just made a silly (clever) joke with their nicknames, hence we have their pairing name genai ๐ฉ but nothing about the series has anything to do with a(rtificial) i(ntelligence) as we know (and detest) it today ๐
ai is an android/robot that was literally created and sent to gen to test how well and how fast she can learn from humans, adapt and develop complex thoughts and processes to resemble humans as much as possible (for what reason, it has yet to be explain, but judging by the looks of the guy who wanted her made, it's definitely exploitative)
but she is most definitely not chatgpt-type of evil ai stuff that's being shoved down our throats on the daily - it's your typical sci-fi genre with a thai twist ๐
