Priest Tom has been on my mind for some time now...
Tomarry x Witch Hat Atelier 🪄
thinking about bard's backstory. imagine you're stranded in a ditch surrounded by your dead comrades and this posh ass pretty boy shows up out of nowhere to flirt with you over tea. insane.
BECAUSE THAT SCENE HAS BEEN STUCK IN MY HEAD- LIKE, HOW LONG WAS SEBASTIAN WATCHING THIS DUDE CONTEMPLATE EATING PEOPLE FOR OPTIMIZED DRAMATIC FLAIR
Come to think of it, the extremely fanonised characterization of Sirius is pretty comparable to what some do to Harry, it’s almost the exact same pattern and kind, and the “fans” coping hard enough to basically strip the word canon of any meaning are pretty similar too. I really can’t understand the core of this whole phenomenon tbh...
well the first thing i will say is that this is not new behaviour. people have always written ships this way, and will continue to write them this way until the end of time. stereotypes persist, and so people persist in shoving characters into these boxes regardless if they fit. there are certainly contributing factors to this increased visibility, though, which i think is what makes it feel more overwhelming.
the main issue is that the internet (and fandom) used to be a lot more decentralized. the shift to centralization happened because of capitalism. the internet came to value quantity over quality. more views, more attention, more money. so they'll dump everyone into one place because that's how you get the most eyeballs on stuff, by forcing everyone to look at it.
the internet that used to be compromised of thousands of smaller ecosystems, has gradually merged into one singular ecosystem where it is more difficult (read: nearly impossible) to avoid stuff you don't want to see.
this is why you have people shrieking about spoilers and DNI lists and whatever else. you can't go outside into the world expecting everyone to cater to what you want, but somehow people will demand other people on the internet do exactly that. anyone who thinks they can control, or have any right to control, their very public corner of the internet is an idiot. you can't choose to exist in a public space then demand that the public space change to suit you.
fandom fought hard for concepts like 'ship and let ship' and 'don't like, don't read'. nowadays it feels like people no longer know or learn how to curate their experience online. younger people especially rely on algorithms to do it for them. but the goal of algorithms is to show you what will get you to engage. what gets you to look. it has nothing to do with what you actually like or want to see.
algorithm controlled feeds are worsened by those who leverage outrage and use it for more attention. people fight over meaningless shit and it goes around and around. in my opinion this is why twitter is such a cesspool, because it relies on that behaviour to keep people's eyeballs on it. it's easy to be baited. no one is immune to propaganda. once you go down that rabbit hole, it is really hard to stop.
the best thing we all can do is put in the work to disengage from stuff we don't like and focus on curating our own spaces for the stuff that we do. no matter how annoying i find something, it's not going to miraculously stop happening. i should try to not be an idiot and accept that.

ship doesn't always mean a romantic, lovey-dovey relationship that ends in marriage. Some of us enjoy angst, gore, and toxic relationships that have no right to be healthy and won't lead to a happy ending.
In my day, 'ship' meant any relationship with feelings other than platonic/familial ones. Obsession or pure lust, not just physical but also metaphorical.
Those were beautiful times when woke culture didn't exist and everyone shipped whatever they wanted. People forget that sebaciel fans have been carrying this fandom from the very beginning.
I also don't know why you expect any morality from someone who is LITERALLY A DEMON.
Do you think Sebastian would care if his actions were considered grooming? That it's wrong? He'd laugh at you all. If he wanted to, he'd take Ciel's soul, body, mind, pride, virginity... or whatever Ciel has left. And most of the fandom would enjoy it.
I recommend you finally grow up and come to terms with it, because your crying won't change anything and you're so fucking annoying.

Despair
When Scarlett Johansson joined the Marvel universe all the way back in 2010, she did not have the ability that current actresses in the franchise have now and that is the ability to be seen as a valuable member of the team as opposed to an accessory.
My girl was being sexualised at every single interview, being asked if she wore underwear under her black widow suit and even being groped by interviewers. Natasha’s background was only slightly explored and her fighting style consisted of wrapping her legs around men’s heads in order to further appeal the male audience.
Yelena has the story arc she has and the ability to grow as a character because Scarlett fought for her to when she was producing the Black Widow movie. It makes me so upset that she knew she would never get the superhero experience that the men around her had, so she put aside her own spotlight in order to give Florence the standing that she couldn’t have.
I will not accept Natasha slander because Scarlett put everything she had into that character for a decade and had to go through so much just to be a part of that franchise.
