So currently I answer to my full first name (which I usually introduce myself with) as well as two nicknames/diminutives plus my last name when people mistake it for a first name. There are two or three other nicknames I've also gone by in the past. I'm perfectly fine with this, or neutral at minimum-- I have a common name and have had to be flexible with how I'm distinguished for my whole life. I also don't feel a deep and fundamental connection of my name with my identity, though I think going by another name entirely would confuse me.
A number of friends have been appalled at me being called names I don't say are my name. Which is really weird to me, although I'd go to battle for anyone else who was getting either deadnamed or called something they didn't want. But this perspective seems surprisingly common!
How do you feel about being called something other than the name you introduce yourself with?
I think it's fun if people give me (non-derogatory) nicknames or shorten my name
I don't care if people call me something else and will answer to it

Yeah man, this wizard sleepover is cozy. okay not to ocpost again but the worst thing about having an oc is sometimes they become The Character to you. and you need to talk to someone about it like wow I can’t stop thinking about The Character… but in order to do so you have to like sit them down and explain everything about your oc first. and then it’s just you explaining your writing ideas. i need to talk about them the same way i would talk about any random character i love to someone.

What to Expect on August 2nd
Point totals will be hidden an hour before the event ends.
The event will end on August 2, 2025 at 12:00 PM MDT / 6:00 PM UTC.
You will not be able to submit attacks after this time. Staff will not be able to submit attacks for you. If you are unable to finish attacks this year, you may not submit them next year.
Site moderators will spend about two weeks going through attack rating reports.
Final Results Newspost
To account for the extension, the final results newspost will be released August 16th. The winners will not be formally announced until the score is finalized. Any remaining attack ratings reports will be closed.
On August 19th, the site and server will be set to read-only for the staff break and development period. They will not reopen until November 1st.
