It's up to Avitus Rix and Macen Barro, posing as newlyweds, to infiltrate the neighborhood and find the killer - while coming to terms with their own old rivalry and new feelings. [AO3]

Exponential Differentiation: No-Reapers AU, DMAB nonbinary Shepard. "ExDiff" for short. After a mysterious all-human team attack Eden Prime and destroy the Prothean beacon found there, Shepard sets out on a grand adventure to hunt them down - and gets in so much deeper than they ever thought possible, uncovering a massive terrorist organization and facing impending war with the Hegemony. Nihlus and Saren join the crew, as well as several OCs including additional Normandy crew, new Spectres, and the batarian Resistance. Also a lot of worldbuilding for alien cultures, especially turians and batarians. Primary ships are Kryterius, Desabrudas, Garrus/OC, and Shepard/Jack.

back in the day they were probably my go-to liara ship honestly, now i'm a bit more of a liara/feron bitch but i still have a soft spot for t'sovik. i'm a bit picky with them tho i dont really think at any point they're all soft and sweet with each other they just jump straight into the old married couple who've been together forever and bicker and argue but also get deeply offended if you mistake this for not caring about each other stage. simultaneously obsessed with each other and drive each other insane. they were divorced as soon as they met and developed back to marriage in reverse. do you understand
i think they have so much POTENTIAL to really get under each other's skin and pull out pieces of each other that they otherwise wouldn't explore or even think exists. mildly obsessed w the idea that they go on an adventure-slash-quest after the war wandering the galaxy while liara writes her book about javik but also learns a lot about herself along the way and javik learns what's become of the galaxy after the downfall of the prothean empire and how he fits into this new world and how to exist without a lifetime of war, and slowly they come to understand each other better etc etc i have many thoughts about them and none of them involve happy domestic bliss ever after. this ship used to be a lot more popular back when i first got into the fandom but had a decline after ship purity took hold (aka "this ship is toxic and sucks and they're mean to each other on-screen so they'd abuse each other therefore you can't ship it") which i think is a shame because their dynamic lends itself really well to a storyline of two very different people learning about each other and themselves in turn and forming a really strong bond in the process. while also calling each other names and fucking with each other. it's part of the process okay

#i chose the discord option but i think the actual culprit isn't listed#i've been writing fanfics since 2001#when smart phones started to become more of a thing comments started to decrease#i figured it was because it's a pain in the ass to type on phones#the younger and younger average age of receiving a cellphone becomes the fewer comments seem to happen#which makes sense since they're doing more things on the phone than a computer#and then i started getting fics with 0 comments#i mean i know that people text all the time and do discord on their phones and stuff#but it seems like taking the time to enter a comment on a website isn't as accessible so it's just not done as much
unfortunately i dont think its queerbaiting if the creator is just so terminally heterosexual that they never remotely considered the same gender relationship their show is centered around could be read as romantic. it is deeply painful however.
By definition you can't accidentally queerbait. Queerbaiting is specifically using a same sex pair from the show to market the show to queer audiences with no intention of ever following through on a romantic relationship.
There is officially licensed Destiel merch signed off on by Kripke. Teen Wolf had a commercial with the actors for Derek and Stiles draped over each other talking about being "on a ship." Both shows actively used scenes between them as marketing while actively mocking fans for wanting them together. Sherlock has multiple characters refer to Johnlock as a couple, including characters we're supposed to believe are never wrong about human behavior and pushed those scenes in marketing. Then they acted insulted when fans saw them as a couple.
That's queerbaiting.
Done on accident it would just be queer subtext. Done because they had no other choice due to censorship is queer coding.
The specific meaning of the word is really starting to get lost and it's a pretty important one to keep accurate. It describes a very specific phenomenon that was done repeatedly and maliciously for decades and is meant to examine that specifically.
Doing it on accident sucks, but it isn't a tactic of capitalism intentionally intended to suppress queer representation while making money from queer fans.
