I wonāt state my exact age, but I am a minor. I am also sex-repulsed and on the ace spectrum. I will sometimes reblog posts with a suggestive joke or theme, but I will never post or reblog anything explicit. Please do not tag me in or send me anything NSFW.
I have several mental disabilities, including depression, anxiety, and ADHD. Please be patient with me!
If youāre respectful with your criticism, feel free to send it my way. I am in no way perfect, but I would always like to improve. If you just send random insults, I will not take it seriously, and you will be ignored or giggled at. If youāre being hateful to me or anyone else, I will personally throw you out the nearest airlock and block you.
QUICKFIRE Q&A:
Can I draw you/your characters? Yes, and I will be extremely flattered.
What are your pronouns? All of them.
Why are you like this? I dunno man.

Is your cat just purple Gnarpy?/Is your cat named after Cosmo from DW? No. Please stop asking.
Can you draw me something? Yes, and I will be incredibly honored to do so.
Whatās your real name?/How old are you?/Can I have your number? Iām not answering that.

Heron - She/Her - Just wants everyone to be okay. Water dragon, and adores the ocean and waves in general. Tends to worry about relationships with others, especially if itās a close friend or family member.
Xero - Xe/It - Tries to figure out how all of this works. Angel, but not in any religious sense. Very sweet, and tends to spend xyr free time helping out and solving problems.
Null - It/Its - Shapeshifting creature of shadows and darkness that dislikes being stuck in one form. Finds this human flesh suit restrictive. Writes poems to recount its experiences.
Static - It/They - An odd computer thing. Made to communicate with the satellites and telescopes, and the probes roaming the deep sea. Newest member. Still figuring this whole system thing out.
Seaglass - She/Her - Caretaker - Also goes by Mama, Mom, or Mama Seaglass. All other system members are her adoptive kids. Very sweet. Has a bit of a southern accent. Somehow.
Blue - any/all - Little - A little shark pup of a kid. Seaglassās child. Scared of everyone outside the system. Likes snacks and soft blankets.
The Fictives - Changes with hyperfixations. Feel free to send an ask to check whoās hanging out.

personally I'm annoyed by the socioeconomic conditions that made words like "unalive" necessary but simultaneously impressed by the linguistic adaptations young people have made to continue talking about important things while subject to those conditions and I think if you can't hold both of those thoughts in your head you might just be old man yelling at cloud

Letās just say, episode 9 changed my perspective of episode 5 and 6. It explains Ragathaās behaviors towards Jax getting close with Pomni and she said āJax is corrupting herā. I thought corrupting meant Pomni changing for bad, not literally
So she has been trying to protect her, to not let the history repeat

a lot of people assume psychosis hallucinations are super intense all-consuming horror movie shit like the memes about the hat man or always horrible debilitating things that make you dangerous to be around
but in my experience 95% of my hallucinations are getting spooked by very clearly hearing someone knocking on my door or calling my name from another room or hearing footsteps walking behind me which are "just" my brain recreating the horror of an abusive childhood
i *have* gotten the "bugs crawling all over me" hallucination once or twice though and yeah that one is exactly as terrible horrible as it sounds AUGH
I just had the thought. As long as you take care of yourself and don't harm others you aren't sick. Doctors and nurses take it too far. Telling you to lose weight or get a job or do this or do that.
I hate that, as schizophrenic people, we need to abide by the cultural norm and conform. I hate my thoughts being policed and governed.
Like there comes a point where they don't just want your symptoms in check, but for you to be the person they want to be.
donāt argue with or challenge the delusionāattempting to disprove someoneās delusions is not helpful at all and will result in that person not trusting you
assure the delusional person that they are safe; be open and honest at all times
encourage them to verbalize their feelings and offer protection to prevent injury to themselves or, possibly, others
start building a trusting relationship with them rather than acting on a desire to control their symptoms
do not confirm or feed into the delusion by asking questions about it when the person is not experiencing a psychotic episode
what it does not mean:
insisting to a psychotic person experiencing psychosis that what theyāre experiencing isnāt real
I donāt mean to trivialize psychosis by making a weird comparison, but this guide also serves as a handy checklist for helping someone through a bad drug trip. In both cases your number one priority is to get the person through whatever theyāre dealing with unharmed.
i donāt think itās trivializing at all, nor a weird comparisonāas a psychotic person who has had psychotic episodes inadvertently triggered by drug use and/or worsened while trying to self-medicate with drugs, i think this is an important addition.
What this boils down to is having compassion for someone whose perception of reality is altered. Telling someone what theyāre experiencing isnāt real when that is the experience they are having right now is utterly useless. When you donāt know who or what to trust, having a safe person to help tether you helps a lot.
Psychosis is terrifying. Anything that distorts your perception (hallucinations, delusions, cognitive deficits, drug effects) and makes you feel distrustful (paranoia is common in all of these) increases your stress and fear. So as a safe person, you want to reduce that stress and fear, and create a space where the person can ride out what theyāre experiencing instead of exacerbating it.
Donāt ācorrectā the person; you are listening to THEIR CURRENT PERCEPTION, and facts arenāt relevant to that. Be compassionate without affirming the delusion. Validate the emotions, not the delusion: āThat sounds really scary/upsetting/etc.ā If you believed what they currently believe, youād be scared/upset. Compassion validates that their feelings are real without reinforcing the delusional belief. This is vital.
Sometimes, when Iām in an episode and especially near the beginning, it helps just being able to talk about what Iām experiencing without judgement and especially being able to vent my feelings of frustration, fear, paranoia, and general wariness of the world and whether anything is real if I canāt trust my senses. Knowing my spouse will not have me locked up for my mental illness and will listen and empathize and offer support helps.
There have been times we have driven around for hours, and I get the aux and just play whatever I feel like, and we observe things we pass through the windows, a form of shared reality-building that is soothing to me because I like riding in the car. Yeah, Iām still having an episode, but it reduces stress and fear, so I donāt get stuck there.
A safe person makes a HUGE difference for someone who is experiencing psychosis. Truly.
I see people discussing why we shouldn't misuse psychosis or delusion, particularly when it comes to AI, but something I never see mentioned, which really should be among them, is "word salad."
I don't know how often I've heard something described as "AI-generated word salad" in the past couple of years, but did you know! Word salad is an actual schizospec symptom and not something AI can do?
Word salad, which is also known as schizophasia, is a thought disorder seen in mental illnesses like schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, bipolar mania, or advanced dementia. It stems from a disruption in the brain's ability to process language and organize thoughts logically. As a result, what the speaker says may follow some grammatical rules, but they are semantically meaningless to the listener. The speaker is usually unaware that they are not making sense to others, but not always (I sometimes know).
In other words: this is a real human thing AI can't do! Just like the phrases "delulu," "narcissistic," "psycho," and others, unless you know what you are saying, please remove this from your vocabulary. Thank you!
driven mad by how patients with severe ME are so rarely warned or protected from some of the most obvious consequences of ME bc doctors just donāt gaf about us. so hereās an awareness post. side effects of ME to look out for:
pressure sores from being in bed all day - to prevent these, change position minimum every 2hrs if possible, and use pillows to support your positions (find visual examples online). youāre especially at risk of pressure sores if you use continence products, so make sure to use a barrier cream and change as soon as possible when soiled.
contractures, especially in the ankles, from being immobile in bed - these can be minimised by doing ankle flexibility exercises, but ONLY if that would be within your energy envelope. otherwise just try to vary your ankle/foot positions. support with pillows if needed.
tinnitus and ear infections from having to wear earplugs so much - i have no advice for this
vitamin d deficiency from being indoors in the dark all the time - supplements and foods rich in vit d can help.
deep vein thrombosis aka blood clots in the legs from immobility - this is uncommon but itās an emergency if it ever occurs. compression socks can reduce your risk if you can tolerate wearing them, and movement also helps lower the risk, but again, only within your energy envelope.
muscle atrophy - your legs and arms may start to look like sticks after becoming bedbound. unfortunately, as long as exercise is unsafe for you, this is impossible to fix, so itās something we have to accept, as pushing ourselves is much more dangerous than deconditioning.
vit and mineral deficiencies from dietary restrictions - opt for a healthy diet, supplementation, and regular blood tests to stay on top of deficiencies
dehydration from being unable to sit up to drink - there are sporty contraptions meant for backpackers that let you drink lying down. some water bottles with sports caps also work, i use refilled lucozade bottles for all my water. if youāre too weak to swallow for longer than a day, itās time to call a doc to see if they can give iv hydration.
dehydration from sleeping a very long time - if you sleep 16+ hours, especially if it happens regularly, youāre probably waking up dehydrated. try to drink water when you wake.
