But he doesn't. He stares down all that monstrous posturing and meets the monster with kindness. It doesn't matter if what he's saying is true - if this is his Shri-Tal then parts of it might even BE true. That's not what he's concealing. What he's really hiding is the guilt, the shame, the self-loathing. That secret part of him that doubts Tain and recognises what his actions for what they are. The monstrosity that even Garak can't face, because then he destroyed himself for nothing.
