Kinda like a scent of a cat, doesn’t necessarily have to be bad. It’s related to animalistic nature- raw scent. -> Cats smell so good, I love huffing cats head/neck lol

For me musk ranges from smelling like dry saliva or hot skin, to old barnyard or straight up fecal.

Deer musk depends on origin, but generally it can smell (raw) bloody, animalistic like smelling a wet dog’s coat, pissy (ammonia), and ethereal, it has a scent that just lifts your body up and fills you with life it’s hard to describe.

The rare natural variety smells thick and sweet with a melted-plastic, skunky undertone.

Skunk:

Burning rubber

Garlic mixed with rotten eggs/a baby's mustard poo/kitchen gas

Strong ammonia or body odor

Burning rubber-melted plastic could ez be in the ballpark of tar, too.

A couple of people mentioned pencil shavings in association with musky fragrances. Animal furs, piss and sweat pop up often, but the plant-derived and synthetic ones can go even into "sweet alcoholic beverages like ouzo", from which we get into...

In AvP: War

Yum yum. Rotting, oily fruit... Overripe avocado? Kinda alcoholic and cloying, some vinegar or acetone (nail polish remover, humans in ketosis), even piss.

You could compare some aspects of the smell to truffles, too, if you want a nicer vibe:
