I think metaphorically these are most divine interventions. It’s the Hanged Man, it’s Saul’s conversion at Damascus. The divine is not supposed to be contained by material or psychological realities. When it inserts itself, it tears through. It scars the witness. It leaves you touched in a way that is holy and therefore martyred, partially undone.

i am all for being critical of academia as an institution but many scholars are actually doing incredibly important work and their expertise is extremely valuable and not like anything you will find from some rando on tumblr dot com. you guys.

Sex positivity is great but I feel that sometimes in people’s zeal to promote it they (in a similar but diametrically opposed fashion to sex negative folks) center it as this vast and central part of human existence. Which don’t get me wrong, of course it’s a huge thing in human life, and you shouldn’t be ashamed of it at all, but I worry about the effects of posing it as so central.
