I'm gonna clarify that the gist of the post was trans people experience a better understanding of their own personal bodies then cis people understanding their own bodies. Not people understanding other people's bodies

help a bi, mentally ill trans man survive until august
hey guys, i hate to do this again, but i am broke. i was paid on july 18th, paid my rent ($450) due at the end of the month, and my cell phone bill ($96) due on the 20th, and now I have only $5.00 left in the bank to get me through until my next payday, august 1. my bus pass which gets me to and from work expires on july 30th, and costs $75. i also have two prescriptions that need to be filled before the end of the month, which together cost about $60. in addition to this, i need groceries including lunches for work. if anyone would be able to paypal me any amount of money to help cover these costs, that would be fantastic.Ā
this is the result of unforseen circumstances: my boyfriend and i had a new roommate move in in may, and thought he was going to be living here permanently, but he suddenly moved out in june. we had budgeted to be paying less rent all summer, and when the new roommate moved out with no notice, had to re-allocate funds to pay for rent. the new roommate also did not pay his rent for june (only for may) despite living in our place until june 21st or so. my boyfriend, who for the past 4 years has worked two jobs, quit his second job when we got the new roommate and now only has one job, so his funds are limited and he is unable to help me with the larger expenses (bus pass and prescriptions). i would also reach out to my mom, but sheās currently doing us a huge favour already by babysitting our cat while our bathroom is remodelled (which was 100% necessary - it was full of mold and the foundation was beginning to collapse), and is also low on money because she re-married and bought a house in 2018. i am a full-time university student (studying education as of this year) who works a part-time customer service job. they will not give me more than 30 hours a week, even during the summer. my paypal email address is [email protected]Ā if you are not able to donate, signal boosting is also appreciated!

People long term on testosterone when did you notice fat redistributing happening? I remember reading it might not happen until 7 years in. I donāt know how many years Iāve been on HRT, its a good few, but I still havenāt noticed any changes in my body shape, itās still distinctly curvy andĀ āwomanlyāĀ
I'm a big proponent of the "repair don't replace" mentality. One of my neighbors was cleaning out her husband's old shed and was kind enough to gift me with a few useful projects and I will happily accept anything that can be reused after a little bit of work. I do not support our throw away society in any way. I drive a 21 year old 4runner that still performs more reliably than my friends cars. It helps being a master mechanic but the majority of the work I do to it can be performed by anyone. The problem with a throw away mentality is that it creates a dependency on a market that continues to churn out sub par items. It creates a dependency on others to fix it for you. Too many people are only capable of working on parts of things. We're creating unnecessary waste, contributing to the constant need for more manufactured products that aren't even built in America anymore. It squashes the desire to learn, to get your hands dirty, to take pride in ownership. Something I'm really looking forward to with my son and potentially future children is to give him the ability to carry out a job completely. To teach him how to teach himself. To send him out into the world as a capable and self sufficient adult. To make sure he sees the value in everything even if it's old or broken because it's worth mending.
I agree with this wholeheartedly but also as a dyspraxic such things are not possible for me. (Iāve a diagnosed deficit in spacial awareness as well mobility and coordination issues)

Genuinely FURIOUS that the passport office requested a copy of a gender recognition certificate before a passport could be issued. Firstly Iāve been legally male since 2014, FIVE YEARS and secondly as it was a fresh passport application the only way they know I was born female is they access the files attached to your pps number at the department of social security. Which has both my gender recognition certificate and an earlier doctors statement that was used for changing my legal sex. So they shouldnāt fucking need it.
Then to add insult to injury they also said I needed āappropriate proofā I use my surname in Irish despite the fact that the surname attached to my pps number has been in Irish for again FIVE YEARS and thatās literally as legitimate as it gets. And appropriate proof includes apparently a bank statement which they have with my application which was sent as my proof of address :) :) :) :) :)

Further cementing my decision to leave some of my posts have been flagged by tumblr and consequently removed without chance of appeal. Said posts contained my hysterectomy scar; purely educational posts sharing my experiences with like minded individuals.
Tumblr provided me throughout my transition with the only place I felt a sense of community with other people going through transition. Itās been a huge resource for countless trans people, a place to gather and share and vent and a place to learn. Itās been a vital platform and outlet for me when I struggled with my transition.
Itās the end of an era and Iām certainly saddened by it. Iām not sure where I will go to share my lower surgery adventures but it certainly wonāt be here. Perhaps we shall all go back to livejournal
I donāt really post on here anymore though I do pop in sometimes to see how people are doing sometimes! I feel weirdly attached to people Iāve been following for years even weāve only spoken a little or not at all. Through the course of the absolute depths of mental illness I lived vicariously through the people I followed on social media particularly tumblr. I spent the vast majority of my life on social media because I simple did not have a life beyond being mental ill. Since my first episode during early childhood my life has been nothing but about being mentally ill. All I was was a mentally ill person.
Now Iām doing really well, Iām not working some whooper job or living a glamorous social life or going to university. Iām living a very simple, very quiet life but one where I find enjoyment in daily activities. I still struggle with symptoms and have big dips in my mood but I am overall a much happier person. So I donāt really go on social media anymore. But I like to visit like I said sometimes and see how you are all doing. Iām not ready to delete my blog and disappear just yet because I would miss the people I check up on.
But yeah this blog probably wonāt be around a whole lot longer or else it will be inactive until I start transition related surgeries again (another year or two to go)

Iāve started going shirtless swimming and I bop around the male changing rooms shirtless as well and despite having no nipples, huge scars,massive fat curvy hips not one man has looked oddly at me in the changing rooms. Iāve only gotten one ālookā so far and that was from a female staff member. Theyāve private showers but itās otherwise open plan, I donāt change in the bathroom. I practiced pulling my pants on under a towel at home so thatās been working fine. As for changing before swimming I just stand in the corner facing a wall and make sure Iām wearing a big baggy tshirt so my crotch is covered when I take off my trousers.

transgender vs transsexual???
is there really a functional, experiential difference between transsexual and transgender? i donāt think the difference is so large as to render these groups separate at all. i think someone can be transgender without transitioning and thus not a transsexual, but can a transsexual really eschew transgender?
i get a lot of pushback from ftm people when i write about transness, theyāre trying to cleve transsexuals from transgender people and i donāt get it? as far as i can see the difference is largely semantic, especially if a transgender person pursues transition.
is this a way to mentally separate themselves from the post and the points? like, if they distinguish that iām taking about transgender but theyāre actually transsexual anything i have to say is totally not applicable to them?
does anyone have a clear and rational distinction between transgender and transsexual, assuming both involve sex dysphoria and a desire to transition?
I think there may be overlap with transitioning something in general, but I also feel like it stops there. I view transgender as changing your gender. Iām a transsexual. I dont need to change my gender because Iām male, but I do need to change my sex characteristics. Ime/imo transgender folks seem to be more out, open, and prone to use transgender as an identity. The way I see it, I transitioned to be male, not trans.
Transsexual is the term that makes sense to me, this is to do with dysphoria over my sexual characteristics itās nothing to do with gender, I couldnāt give a shite about my āgender identityā

I thought ROI was quite good considering all these super progressive referendums you all keep having where everyone keeps voting for the best thing. What is it that lets it down?
The cost of living is far too high, weāve the highest suicide rates in Europe, weāve a massive housing crisis, rents keep sky rocketing, we have a massive homeless epidemic with more and more families every week, every day becoming homeless. Itās becoming increasingly common that landlords are shoving 20+ people into 4 bedroom houses. The rents in this country are absolutely fucking insane, nobody can afford to live here. Iām lucky I have such a good relationship with my mam because I literally could not under any circumstances afford my own place. Third level education costs are increasing every year, transportation costs keep climbing if I didnāt have a free travel pass I couldnāt afford to take a bus to the shops. Our health service is in crisis with enormous waiting lists for even critical time sensitive care and huge shortage of hospital beds so sick, elderly and dying people are stuck on chairs.
What country could be considered good for a trans person to live? By good I mean the following:Ā
1. Country provides (either through private or public insurance) full health care benefits for trans people
Ā 2. Has strong anti-discrimination laws
Ā 3. Has had little to no recent political events that show the country is leaning less towards being open and accepting to trans people
Would love to hear from other folks who left the US for work and/ who donāt live in the US.
I donāt know whereās good but I would strongly advise you to never, ever, EVER consider moving to Republic of Ireland not because of itās attitude towards LGBT but because itās absolutely awful across the board.
Itās been 3 years today since my hysterectomy.
Having a lot of sad/angry feelings over my transition and how I was treated by endocrinologists and the surgeon that did my mastectomy. My whole transition was just me being fucked over repeatedly by different doctors. Itās an 18 to 24 month wait to get into the trans clinic, Iām about a year into the wait but Iām going to try speed things along. When I finally get in Iām going to kick up so much shit about how the surgeon butchered my chest and try to fight my way into some funding for revision.
When opticians and dentists ask if youāre on medication do you have to mention testosterone? I donāt see how it could be relevant and would rather not out myself
Personally I rarely do, for the same reason! I canāt give an authoritative answer, but can say that I know lots of people who donāt mention testosterone in most contexts. When in doubt it might be as well to mention it, as it wonāt automatically out you (there are probably more cis men on testosterone supplements than trans men), but if it seems to be part of a general questionnaire (e.g. when registering with a service) then you can probably use your own judgement about whether to mention it.

I mentioned it to my optician and she said some hormone supplements can cause problems such as dry eyes so your probably best off mentioning everything you are taking. They are asking you for a reason.

Thanks! Iāve heard so many good things about Yelland he was definitely top of my list of surgeons I want to email. My friend who mostly lives with me is away for a couple weeks but once sheās back sheāll be taking pics of my chest so Iām going to start email surgeons once I have those.

If you're going to England anyway and would prefer a top surgery specific surgeons, there's Miles Berry in London and Peter Kneeshaw in Hull that both do good jobs. Andrew Yelland in Brighton too. Those are the main three I know about. ash-with-the-tash on Youtube had his with Kneeshaw, TheSamThatIAm on Youtube had his with Miles Berry. Both of those went private. Yelland's dead easy to find, he did an amazing job with this one dude, ukftm-surgerydiary (tumblr name), who needed a revision.

You could always travel to England for top surgery revision? Or you could see if there's any surgeons around who does masectomies, like for women with breast cancer? They probably don't do the contouring but they'd likely take it all away fine. Ask to see photos of other's results from the surgeons, private surgeons usually take photos for a portfolio anyway. You could try a irish-specific facebook group too?
Thanks for the suggestions :) Iām more then likely traveling to the UK, most Irish trans people I know went to America for their chest surgeries but I canāt afford the plane fare. Ferry + bus to UK is dirt cheap and I know people all over the UK so I probably wonāt have to worry about accommodation
