I'm so so curious about Vincent's role in Revelation.

Saw on twitter people saying that Vincent's phrase about putting Sephiroth in a coffin is different in Japanese, that is something like until they eradicate him his nightmares won't end, something like that don't quote me on that lol.

And it got me thinking, because I feel that Vincent in OG is more "hesitant" somewhat about killing Sephiroth, because he's still Lucrecia's son. But now he seems determined, at least to me.

And remembering how there's like scribbles in the Shinra Manor when you recruit him that say Kadaj, Loz and Yazoo, plus Chaos' entire thing as a WEAPON and the planet and stuff, I wonder if Vincent knows more than we think.

Or if his nightmares are like Lucrecia's, about the future and Sephiroth.

I don't want to theorise anything but I'm sooo excited about part 3 and what they'll do with Vincent.

That makes a lot more sense! And whatever is going on I think it's pretty certain that Vincent indeed does know more about Seph and his doings than og Vincent did. He still doesn't have Jenova cells right? So it has to be something else.

In my case, however, I'm more apprehensive than excited... Didn't care for any of the changes about Vincent so far. His beef with Hojo made a lot more sense. Holding on to a tiny bit of hope though that wherever his story is leading to will be something amazing.

Unpopular opinion: I don't want to know who the VAs are. I don't want to know their names and, especially, don't want to see their faces, watch interviews and what voice work they've done before. As long as they do a decent job, that's the full extent of what I care about. They do deserve full credit and recognition for their work, as any professional does, but in the same way I don't know or remember the names of all the programmers, designers, illustrators, etc that work in a game I don't really care about theirs either. For me it kills the suspension of disbelief, the deep immersion I love to get from a game. I like that Sephiroth is Sephiroth, that Cloud is Cloud and Tifa is Tifa, I don't want to be aware more than necessary that it's just a fantasy and the guy to whom that voice belongs is tall or short, blond or brunette, nice or arrogant, that he's also that other character, etc etc. The more I know about a VA or MCA the less I can get fully immersed.

One more thing that makes the Vincent is the dad theory "strong" is their "similarities".

And with the new costumes we can say that Sephiroth inherited Vincent's body type.

Broad chest, snatched waist and no ass.

Some say Hojo can't be the father because Sephiroth looks nothing like him.

Which in turn means that in theory Hojo has to have a big butt now.

It's really funny to think Vincent might've once had beef with a toddler.

But there's also been hints that although there's multiple timelines, those timelines can converge again because there's only one Planet. The Ever Crisis anniversary showed that even though there are many "stories" (timelines) they're all connected in the lifestream. If there's only one Planet, and there's only one lifestream, it's reasonable to think that there's only one Omega, only one protomateria, and only one Chaos.

Which means Vincent may remember fighting--and getting his ass whipped by--Sephiroth in other timelines he's connected to through Chaos.

(Also possibility: If this is post-Advent Children Sephiroth, that means this timeline has possibly looped around somehow. And if Vincent truly can't die, this might be his second rodeo.)

Tbh I hate the changes to Vincent so much! It made perfect sense he hated Hojo, that was the guy who stole his woman, experimented on her son, shot him when he objected and proceeded to experiment on him too and turn him into a (few) monster(s). It's understandable that Vincent has a huge grudge against such a creature. But against someone he never even got to know? He most likely never even got to see baby Seph, so where is all of this coming from? Some Lifestream shenanigans we haven't learned about yet? For one, I'm not fond of there being actual alternate realities, I still think they're just dreams, fantasies and what ifs, possibilities but not actual realities. And two, that's not the Vincent I knew and loved for so long, a man so guilt ridden for something he wasn't actually responsible for and couldn't stop, so distraught over what he'd been transformed into and suffering from such severe depression due to his perceived weakness and failure to save himself, the woman he loved and her son, that he basically committed suicide within what was possible to him. That Vincent stopped Sephiroth with a heavy heart, because he had to for the greater good, not because he had some beef with him!
