It's really funny to think Vincent might've once had beef with a toddler.
But there's also been hints that although there's multiple timelines, those timelines can converge again because there's only one Planet. The Ever Crisis anniversary showed that even though there are many "stories" (timelines) they're all connected in the lifestream. If there's only one Planet, and there's only one lifestream, it's reasonable to think that there's only one Omega, only one protomateria, and only one Chaos.
Which means Vincent may remember fighting--and getting his ass whipped by--Sephiroth in other timelines he's connected to through Chaos.
(Also possibility: If this is post-Advent Children Sephiroth, that means this timeline has possibly looped around somehow. And if Vincent truly can't die, this might be his second rodeo.)
Tbh I hate the changes to Vincent so much! It made perfect sense he hated Hojo, that was the guy who stole his woman, experimented on her son, shot him when he objected and proceeded to experiment on him too and turn him into a (few) monster(s). It's understandable that Vincent has a huge grudge against such a creature. But against someone he never even got to know? He most likely never even got to see baby Seph, so where is all of this coming from? Some Lifestream shenanigans we haven't learned about yet? For one, I'm not fond of there being actual alternate realities, I still think they're just dreams, fantasies and what ifs, possibilities but not actual realities. And two, that's not the Vincent I knew and loved for so long, a man so guilt ridden for something he wasn't actually responsible for and couldn't stop, so distraught over what he'd been transformed into and suffering from such severe depression due to his perceived weakness and failure to save himself, the woman he loved and her son, that he basically committed suicide within what was possible to him. That Vincent stopped Sephiroth with a heavy heart, because he had to for the greater good, not because he had some beef with him!
Could I request Cloud? In his SOLDIER outfit or maybe his Advent Children's?

“Or defective, or sick, or something,” he persisted, and nudged the tank toward Angeal’s chest in a feeble attempt to hand it over. “I mean, look at it.”
“I am looking.”
“And what is it that you see?”
“A hermit crab,” Angeal answered plainly, and returned to his pot of brewing coffee as the device let out a beep. He was pretty certain there was a “No Pets Allowed” sign plastered somewhere outside the SOLDIER lounge, but who was he to enforce the company rules? He was just here to grab a cup of coffee, fuel himself with much-needed caffeine, and set out to train whichever Thirds felt like showing up today.
Adopting a friend’s pet was, unfortunately, not on the agenda.
Not that Genesis was feeling very acquiescent. “That’s what I believed it to be,” he continued to protest, following Angeal to the array of creams and sweeteners. “I think that blasted snake sold me a phony.”
Angeal peeled the lid off a creamer. “And why would you say that?”
“W-why?! Look at it!” Genesis exclaimed, referring once more to the helix-shaped shell amid the otherwise desolate tank. “This darn thing hasn’t come out since I’ve bought it!”
“Well, why did you go and buy a hermit crab from the Wall Market anyway?” Angeal wanted to know, plunking his empty creamer in the trash can. “Why not go to a pet store?”
“Are we really going to stand here and talk shoulda-coulda-woulda, or are you going to take it off my hands?”
“No, I’m not taking it off your hands!”
“Well, why not?” Genesis frowned. “I’m sure it’s a great pet.”
“You just said it was sick.”
“So? Can’t you cure it?”
“With what?” Angeal laughed, bringing the fixed coffee cup to his lips. “A Curaga?”
“You can try.”
Just as Angeal was about to kindly tell Genesis to clam up, the door to the lounge slid open—Gaia bless—and in glided their younger friend, his expression so unequivocally unbothered that not even the sight of Genesis cradling a two-gallon tank was enough to ruffle those calm, reptilian eyes.
Angeal could practically hear the inspiration coming alight in Genesis’s mind.
“Sephiroth! My friend’o’chum!” Genesis met his companion halfway across the lounge, a vulpine gleam in the mako-blue eyes. “How are you? Did you sleep well? My, oh, my, is it nice to see you today~!”
Wooden, Sephiroth glanced past Genesis and toward the silent Angeal.
“Is he drunk?”
“He wants you to have his hermit crab,” Angeal explained through a sip of coffee. “It’s apparently 'broken.'"
“There’s nothing apparent about it!” Genesis insisted, then immediately slapped a smile back on as he coaxed the tank toward Sephiroth’s arms, adding in good spirits, “So, what do you say? You want a pet shell? I hear they’re easy to take care of.”
“Genesis, come on—“
“No, no.” Sephiroth stopped Angeal mid-sigh, much to the surprise of both him and Genesis. “It’s all right; I’ll take him.”
Genesis needed a moment to blink. “…You will?”
“You will?” Angeal echoed.
“Of course,” Sephiroth answered, and smiled quietly at the shell as he bent down to examine it. “I love arthropods.”
Truthfully, it didn’t matter if Sephiroth said he enjoyed its phylum or if he was going to steam it later—Genesis was just glad to have willing arms to transfer the tank into, and he wasted not a second plunking said tank into them.
“Well,” he said, watching with a smile as Sephiroth accepted the enclosure and peered curiously into it, “enjoy your pet shell, my friend! I’m sure it will make a great…”
“Oh,” Sephiroth hummed, and his smile broadened as a small, ember-orange bulb poked out of the shell, a splay of spidery legs skittering across the tank to meet the kind eyes gazing into its tank. "Hello there, little one.”
“……….pet.”
“Now, let’s get you some decor for your enclosure, shall we? It must be quite lonely in there, no? …"
Genesis watched as Sephiroth sailed through the exit, murmuring pleasantries to his new companion, until the cascade of silver hair disappeared from view.
Ahhhhh TYYY, friend!!! That means so much!!! 🥹❤️❤️
Fun fact!! - there was an alternate ending where Genesis did indeed try to take the hermit crab back + recite some poetry, and the thing just retreats right back into its shell 😂😂💖💖

I'm fine with kissing both Lucrecia and Gillian, and possibly the unknown Genesis mother... after a good slap! Are they f*****g stupid?? One experiments on herself and the other on her unborn baby, without having a clue of what they're doing and the possible consequences! As a woman of science myself, I really want to shake them until they give me a good explanation of why they thought it was a good idea. But after that, they both seem quite nice people, I think we could get along just fine.
AGS are chilling at Costa Del Sol when a beautiful shell washes ashore. Genesis rushes to claim it, thrilled to have such an exquisite addition to his seashell collection. As Angeal coughs up the sand Genesis kicked up, Sephiroth glances up from the hole he’d been digging to study his friend’s findings. He agrees that it’s quite the wonderful find, then asks if he may hold it; Genesis, too elated to even consider being selfish, happily hands the shell over.
As soon as it touches Sephiroth’s palms, however, the shell twitches—and out pops a little hermit crab, its beady eyes blinking at Sephiroth with all the awe and curiosity of a baby bird meeting its mother for the very first time.
And, much like the mother of a newly hatched chick, Sephiroth falls in love.
Instantly.
Every time Genesis or Angeal try to hold the crab, it retreats into its shell: shy, frightened, unfamiliar. And only comes out once it’s back in Sephiroth’s hands, its spidery legs dancing happily on the leather terrain, extroverted as can be.
The two play for the rest of the vacation.
And while Sephiroth has to eventually say goodbye, knowing good and well that ShinRa HQ is no place for a little crab with an entire ocean to explore, his new friend makes sure Sephiroth left with a memento of their bond:
Its beautiful, beloved shell.
Sephiroth brings it to his office. Angeal helps him clean it. Genesis gets to admire his friend’s treasure every day thereafter.
