“yeah, you’re right! maybe we should do something crazy… like stay out one night until ten or something.”

“It is cute on women, okay.” He laughed, stressing his point by making waves of his hands. “My mother has the strongest accent, sometimes when I’m around her I slip into a bit of a change.”

Sofia chuckled. “Well, I suppose I’ll take your word for it,” she grinned. “I usually morph into full Russian when I talk to my dad, but my accent gets stronger when I talk to other Russian people too.”

“It is,” He grinned. “It could go horribly wrong, but I pay attention to what I say around them. This has yet to backfire.”

“I still don’t have very high hopes for the future, but I wish you the best of luck with that. I don’t think I’d be able to keep that up.”

“Yeah? I mean i’ve read it’s beautiful but still… never even planned out going. Yeah but… i mean you had down time right. What did you do then?”

“You should add it to your list, really,” Sofia suggested. “Well, I watched a little bit of television, or I played with my uncles dog or friends.”

circe scurried up to the other figure. “hello—just a minute of your time please?” she asked, holding up a hand to halt them. “it’ll just take a second, i promise. could you just sign my petition? its a really important cause and it’d mean the world to me if you did.” she said extending a clipboard to them with a piece of paper that read ‘ former president obama please reveal all secrets about aliens’ at the top.

Sofia had been on her way home from class when she’d been stopped. She raised her eyebrows and nodded, listening to what she was saying. She took the clipboard, reading what it was about and chuckling quietly. “Aliens, huh?”

Crispin gave a playful grimace at her words. “I wouldn’t exactly say they’re uh—good? Most of the time they fall more into the ‘so stupid you can’t help but laugh’ category’.” he gave a slight nod at her words. “Neither of us can really be blamed if we’re both at fault so i’ll take that. Well, its nice meeting you Sofia. Too bad I had to almost knock you over to do it.”

“Well, any somewhat laughable jokes are good jokes. My family weren’t very big on jokes growing up so I haven’t actually heard that many,” she explained. It was true - her family were pretty serious and the only jokes she’d really heard as a kid were ones her brother had heard around school and told her later. “Ah, no harm done. It’s probably the most interesting way I’ve ever met someone.”

The smell in the air was intoxicating as soon as she entered the studio, the wafting scent of burger and fries, eyes landing to the second box that laid beneath it with a small smile. “Oh, thank god,” she murmured out, a sigh of relief escaping her before taking it from her grasp. “And thank you,” Ophelia said as she walked over to the purse, taking out a ten and handing it over to her. “Food and tap shoes – all I need out of life.”

Sofia nodded and smiled. “Yeah, no worries,” she said. “I totally agree about the food part, but not so much about the tap shoes part.” 

“I’ve convinced my co-workers that I had a twin brother so when I see them in public I don’t have to talk to them. This has been the best decision I’ve made. Now I don’t have to talk to the annoying people I work with.”

“Honestly, that’s such a smart thing to do,” Sofia mused. “I do feel like it could backfire horribly, though. If you’re not careful.”

       a small sigh escaped her lips as she sat on the ground of the ballet studio, delicate fingers un-whirling the ribbons that laced themselves up long, slender legs, eyes focused on the task at hand. a ring echoed throughout the large space, calling her attention to the bell that laid above the door, telling her someone had walked in. “ sorry, we’re closed! ” the brit called out, her voice still soft.

Sofia hadn’t expected to end up in a ballet studio that day, but after someone had asked, while she was at the cafe, if she could deliver a package to the studio, she’d felt obliged to say yes. “I know, I’m sorry,” she began. “But, uh - someone asked me to drop this off?” 

“Honestly.. She probably didn’t drop it because she actually misses you and that’s just how she is coping with things like you leaving.” She said to Sofia. “Mom’s tend to do that sometimes.”

“Well if you ever start taking care of me when I am drink then I am going to have to start calling you mom so you can truly feel the love.” He mentioned to her as he chuckled softly. “Well your brother is a good man.” He joked as he chuckled a bit. 

Lila gave a half-hearted shrug. “That’s a shame though, drinking can be so much fun. And if you keep it in limits your liver doesn’t suffer all too much. Come on, just for that statement I should buy you a drink.” She huffed, taking a final step outside and taking her package of cigarettes out of her purse. “Can I convince you to just one?”

Sofia quickly shook her head. “There is no chance I can be convinced to drink alcohol, but I guess I appreciate your effort?” She shrugged. “You don’t need to buy me a drink, honestly.”

“That’s too funny.” He said as he laughed softly. “Oh see.. We called our mom, mom.” He mentioned to her. “That’s fair.. not everybody likes to experience it.” He said honestly to her. 

“Wait, you moved to a different country to get away from your mother?” She asked Sofia as she tilted her head to the side a bit. “I don’t know if I could ever really do that actually.” She said.
