A harrowing tale of self discovery
im in actual tears over the fraud cube...... oh my gosh
I appreciate someone appreciating my suffering lmao. Iâm gonna reblog it to share this masterpiece.
Reblogged your survey to both my blogs :D hope all goes well, please share if you get a good grade, if that's possible :)
Okay will do!! Thank you so much!
Do not punish the behaviour you want to see
I mean, it seems pretty obvious when you put it like that, right?
But how many families, when an introvert sibling or child makes an effort to socialize, snarkily say, âSo, youâve decided to join usâ?
Or when someone does something theyâve had trouble doing, say, âWhy canât you do that all the time?â (Happened to me, too often.)
Or any sentence containing the word âfinallyâ.Â
If someone makes a step, a small step, in a direction you want to encourage, encourage it. Donât complain about how itâs not enough. Donât bring up previous stuff. Encourage it.
Because I swear to fucking god there is nothing more soul-killing, more motivation-crushing, than struggling to succeed and finding out that success and failure are both punished.
I demand to know why I canât hit add a million more likes to this post.
This is like 95% of the reason I have so much resistance to trying new things or doing anything that Iâve previously displayed reluctance or disinterest in.

I hate when straight people talk about how we âshould never assume anyone is gay!!â based on appearance/mannerism/behaviour/anything
But they never talk about how assuming everyone is straight is harming people!!!
Not letting us talk about gay aesthetics and traditions and culture is just another way to silence and isolate us :)
Itâs so disingenuous, too. LikeâŚI know I look gay, okay? I get called out and harassed by strangers all the time over my appearance. And I do most of it on purpose! This isnât some high school movie ugly duckling narrative; lesbians arenât awkward wallflowers wishing desperately that they could look like straight girls, if only theyâd ever learned how. As if we could escape being taught! Iâm a grown adult and I choose to look this way.
If you really donât think thereâs anything wrong with being gay, why do you think itâs the polite thing to pretend you donât see it, especially since itâs how I wish to be seen?
This is such a good post, my god. Sometimes I feel so guilty for recognizing other queer folks by picking up the signals - aka, âassuming based on stereotypesâ - but the reality is that most of us who do have those signs and signals are intentionally coding to find each other and be ourselves visibly and loudly.
@highgardenns
I read Hamlet back in high school and to this day my absolute favorite thing about it was when Guildenstern was trying to fool Hamlet into doing something or other and Hamletâs savvy to it but rather than saying âyouâre lying and trying to trick meâ instead Hamlet outta nowhere whips out this flute and tells Guildenstern to play it.
And Guildenstern is all âI dont know how to play a flute, my lordâ
And Hamlet takes a dramatic pause before he absolutely ruins Guildenstern with, âWell thats funny considering you thought you could play meâ
this post sounds like im exaggerating but im not itâs straight up canon
fucking legendary power move
A survey about LGBT+ community members' experiences.
For a class project, I have decided to complete a survey of members of the LGBT+ community and their experiences in society (it's a SOC class). If you identify as a part of this community and would be interested in helping me out by completing all or part of this form, I would really appreciate it!
These results will never go out to the public and are completely anonymous. Only my teacher with see the results, and even then it would be a summary of them and no individual set of responses. If anyone participating would like to see the results summary, however, let me know via comment on the form or tumblr message and I could (if no one objects to the notion via comment/message) send them to your email.
Please reblog to spread the word!

When I explain cultural misappropriation to children, I use the example of The Nightmare Before Christmas. Â
Itâs effective because especially for children, who donât have enough historical context to understand much of the concept, you can still fully grasp the idea. Â
There was nothing wrong with Jack seeing the beauty and differences in Christmas town, itâs when he tried to take what is unique about Christmas town away from those it originally belonged to without understanding the full context of Christmas things is when everything went wrong.
When Jack tries to get the folk of Halloween town to make Christmas gifts for children, etc., children understand that the Halloween town folk do not have the full context for the objects they are making, and they are able to see that the direct repercussions and consequences are very harmful.
what i like about this is the implication that if jack had taken the time to understand christmas town, bringing christmas to halloween town would not have been harmful. thatâs how it works, folks. cultural sharing is GOOD, itâs only misappropriation when itâs done in ignorance and disrespect.
Thereâs an interesting level here in that Jack tried to understand Christmas town. He could see the magic while he was there, and he did try to explain it that way to citizens of Halloween town.  But they werenât interested in the kind of life he was describing, so he started ârebrandingâ Christmas so that it was not like Christmas but was like Halloween. The people of Halloween town, never having actually encountered Christmas, have no way of knowing that what theyâre being told about Christmas and âSandy Clawsâ is inaccurate. Jack also tried to study Christmas and its culture, though he couldnât quite get it; eventually, he literally decides to take it for himself, even as he knows itâs not really for him.  He started out feeling sad the others in Halloween town didnât âget it,â but he then decided itâs not important to fully âget itâ but instead to have it.
So itâs not just accidentally removing things form their context; he has intentionally disregard the meaning of the rituals he purports to be recreating, making them more fun for the recreaters but not like what the rituals are supposed to be and without the related significance.
This is the best way to conceptualize the wrong way to share culture I have ever seen and I think I finally get where people are coming from when they talk about âcultural appropriation.â
