Jason: I found a Opossum.
Dick: Ooh what kind?
Jason: An angry. *holds up a squirming, angry deaged danny*
Dick: Been there. *glances at a scowling Damian* Freaking, been there.
Steph: Listen up cucks-
Bruce: Don't call us cucks-
Steph: Shut up! Listen, because the government is sexist and horrible, and there is a law in place that says all Omega's have to live with an Alpha, I'm taking in my cousin.
Tim: What?
Steph, sighing: He used to be fine because both his mom and older sister were Alphas, but there was an accident and both his parents and sister died.
Dick: Oh kiddo.
Damian: Can no one else take him?
Steph: His godfather tried, but hes a Beta, and Danny apparently threatened to "embrace death" if placed with him.
Dick: That's not a red flag at all.
Tim: Right?
Steph: His Aunt is deeply off grid right now and I'm his only Alpha cousin, so he's coming here. I just want you guys to be aware that I might be a bit lax with my bat work, at least until we both adjust to the change.
Bruce: It's nice you're stepping up even though you shouldn't have to. Let me know if he or you needs anything.
Steph: Thanks B.
--------2 Weeks Later--------
Steph: Guys, this is Danny. Danny, these are the Wayne's, I'm good friends with them.
Bruce: Nice to meet you chum-
Danny, bundled up in one of Jazz's sweaters: Batman.
Bruce: what?
Danny: Robin, Red Robin, Nightwing, Back Bat- Signal and Red Hood are not here.
Steph, smirking: He clocked me immediately too.
Danny: Death clings to you, is how I know. Also, there are dogs here.
Damian: I will introduce, you'll be quite impressed by their temperments I'm sure.
Dick: Well, he's interesting?
Tim: What does "death clings to us" even mean?
Cass: Like him. Sad, needs hugs.
Bruce: Hmn.
Hear me out: Adult* Danny who is raising a formerly de-aged* Dani. And one day she comes home with Kon*, and Danny just shrugs and adopts Kon on the spot, so now Danny has two kids. A few weeks later, Kon comes to Danny and asks him to make Kon's templates suffer some inconvenience.
End of story, Danny sues Superman and Lex Luthor for Child support.
Only Kon, Dani, and Tucker(who got all the documents ready) are enjoying this. Danny's sorta just chilling and going along with it, he doesn't really need Child Support, especially from two people, so he'll probably just put all the payments into funds for the kids' futures and give them more allowance(Kon insists Dani be given some of it too and Danny won't fight him on his decision).
Hope or Denial
(TW: Gore, Blood, not sure if there are other triggers so someone tell me and I’ll edit it)
Danny had always had a deep kernel of belief that his parents would accept him as Phantom. However that kernel was quite deep and covered by anxiety and paranoia. After all, they even sometimes worked with ghosts when the time came for it! He had even tried to tell them more than once, though his nervousness and the constant interruptions meant he hadn’t managed that yet.
So when his parents declared they were going to Gotham because of ghost rumors, Danny was dragged along and disgruntled because Gotham, while have higher ecto levels, was no where near enough to hide his ecto-signature when in ghost form.
Of course, nothing could have prepared him for what would happen 3 days into their stay. A fuzzy thought tickled the back of his mind as he stared in shock. ‘Did I really believe that they would change? Or was I just in denial?’

Prompt: It worked?!
Danny is in Gotham for college, and during finals month the Joker goes on a spree. After the Joker breaks out of Arkham for the THIRD time Danny in a fit of sleep deprived pique does a bit of research, breaks into Arkham, and swaps prisoner transfers so that the Joker is taken to a prison out of state.
It’s only after finals are over, and he has slept for two days, that he calls Tucker to check on his half brained plan, to find out it worked? Somehow it worked. The Joker is now at a different prison where he has no corrupted guards etc to help him breakout and is now stuck there.
The bats only find this out when their paranoia of “why hasn’t the Joker broken out yet?” kicks in.
Wallet Reveals All
Tim as Red Robin, staring forlornly at his broken grapple, exhaustion seeping out of him in waves: …
Danny: Hey uh… want me to fix that?
Tim, sounding near tears: Please 🙏
Danny: *quickly fixes the grapple, pulling scrap from his bag.* Here all fixed!
Tim: Here, your payment. *hands over his entire wallet and grapples away*
Danny: *stares blankly for 30 seconds* … Um?
Danny: *Silently screaming inside as he stares at Red Robin’s very civilian state ID*
Danny: Why is my luck always like this?
"So does this mean I'm like... adopted?" Danny asked as he looked over the documents on the table before him.
"Oh honey, as far as we're concerned you're our flesh and blood!" His mom was quick to reassure him, "Though legally speaking... yes."
Danny frowned as he read through and reread the papers, trying to reconcile the information found there with the story he'd been told. A story about a younger version of his parents, who'd had his sister and decided they were ready for another child but were struggling.
After multiple failed attempts, they sought out a fertility specialist and learned that their years of exposure to hazardous materials had compromised their ability to have children. The fact that Jazz was born first try and without complications was a miracle. A long series of medical records and doctors notes showed all the tests they went through trying to find another way to conceive, culminating in a positive test result for Maddie's ability to carry to term. With renewed hope, they began to research IVF treatments and donors. Unfortunately, they couldn't afford both an egg and sperm donor as they hadn't yet found someone willing to invest in their patents. Not willing to give up, Maddie took to browsing online forums for advice from people who had been in her position. It was there she learned that, similar to organ donors, people who have their embryos frozen can sign a consent form allowing their stored embryos to be donated in the event of their death. This was the lead they were waiting for.
Another couple who had also been struggling to conceive had six embryos prepared and were successful on the fourth attempt, leaving two behind when they passed away. Having signed the consent form, those two embryos had been kept in stasis waiting to be donated. With a confirmation that they were compatible, the Fentons wasted no time in setting up an appointment. The first didn't take but the second did. They took every precaution during the pregnancy, this leading their decision to start wearing hazmat suits even while outside the lab, and nine months later the Fentons were welcoming their second child to the family. At this point in telling the story, Danny had been handed two matching documents; the donor profiles the clinic had given his parents all those years ago. There were no pictures, and information like surname and address had been redacted out of privacy, but they held the health screenings and physical descriptions of a couple named Thomas and Martha.
"Nothing has to change Danny," His mother stated, "We love you so much and are so proud of you, biological child or not."
"That's right Dann-o!" His father jumped in, "The only difference is that now you know."
Danny looked at his parents, then to the documents, then back to his parents before asking, "So why are you telling me this now?"
"It was never something we meant to keep from you. And now that you're sixteen, we felt it was the right time," His dad said.
"And," His mom added, "We felt that, if you wanted to have a relationship with your biological family, you should have the chance to find them." She then placed a box on the table, an AncestryDNA kit. "We never had any means of contact to let them know you were born and services like this didn't exist back then. It's okay if you don't want to, but we felt you should have the option."
Danny studied the kit before nodding to himself with determination. "No matter what some DNA kit has to say, you're my parents. You've been there for me my entire life, I'm not going to replace you with some strangers who share blood with me. But.. I would like to know them."
Secure in his decision, he proceeded to complete the DNA collection and send out the test with help from his parents. In a little over a month he would receive his results. He was nervous to find out if he had grandparents or siblings but, a little selfishly, relieved that he wouldn't have to worry about meeting his biological parents. He knows he's old enough that a court would let him choose where he ended up but he doesn't want to think about what would have happened if his bio parents were alive and decided they wanted to fight for custody. That just made him feel guilty though. He should feel sorrow for the parents he never got to meet, and he does, but if they had lived, would they ever have gone back for him? Would they eventually have decided they wanted another child or would he never have been born, forever in stasis as the world went on without him?
He shoved those thoughts away, not wanting to dwell on them. He doesn't need to worry about 'what if's, they didn't happen after all. This is how his life played out and he wouldn't trade it, his family, and his friends for anything. Now he just has the opportunity to add some new people to that group. Until then, it's back to his normal routine while anxiously awaiting his results.
Later, in a cave in New Jersey far below the surface, an alert would flash on a high tech computer.
NEW DNA MATCH - 2 CONNECTIONS
Bruce Wayne - Brother
Damian Wayne - Nephew
Emotional Support Ghost
Bruce stared. He knew. To be fair the strange little... Ghost(?) was turning longer as he wrapped around his eldest son's chest and started purring. The little vest he wore with the glowing words "Emotional Support Ghost! Working, please don't disturb" were lightly vibrating.
"Alfred...?"
"Yes, Master Bruce?"
"I think I'm hallucinating."
"Not at all. Master Dick has found the little ghost in a dumpster and has taken him in. He takes his work very serious." Alfred sounded proud and happy. Bruce understood, seeing any of his kids happy would always make him filled with love and happiness too.
It was still strange even if the little ghost was cute. (Until he bit Damian when his youngest tried to stealthily pet him)
I got inspired by this post from alien-slushie!
A part of Batman's character that I don't see much discussion or debate is how he was the first human without powers in the Justice League. This means he established the rules of safety, combat, and equipment for the others through experience. When they try to teach the younger heroes, they're like, "Pffft, of course it's obvious, why is there a rule about this?" And the older Justice League members don't know how to explain the safety rule about not throwing heroes without powers because Batman was thrown a little too hard and had to continue fighting with broken bones, or the rule about not flying too close to them at high speed so they don't burst their eardrums. The reason? Because Batman experienced that firsthand he went through everything, first as a human fighter among gods. He and Green Arrow hold meetings to review and confirm the safety rules every few months

"Hey, Rob!"
Tim lifts his head, and Bart gestures to him. He sets down his dumbells and starts across the room.
"Do you know what Protocol 23 is?"
"Protcol 23: Justice League members may not take off at super speed, flight, or jumps within proximity to other members of their team. Exemptions are allowed for Kryptonians, Amazons, and other team members on a case-by-case basis, but doing so will result in investigation for mal intent, and suspension—"
Cassie holds up a hand. "Why do you know it word for— that's not the point. We're not talking about that. Look at this."
She gestures him to the monitors, and he leans over Bart's shoulder to look, the others filling in around them.
Bart clicks play, and Tim grins. "Ooo, baby Batman. That's one of his first suits."
"Yeah, but look at the file name." Cissie reaches past him, rapping her nail on the screen, and he hums. "Protocol 23."
Bruce fights back-to-back with Clark on screen, and Tim leans on the chair Bart is tucked into, arms crossed. "You interrupted my workout to watch B fight? You know I can do that every night if I wanted to, right?"
"Shut up." Kon shoves his shoulder, and they share a childish grin.
There's a sonic boom over the sounds of fighting, quickly followed by a familiar grunt. Clark can be seen in the background, holding off a swarm, while Bruce wavers and drops to his knees.
Blood seeps past the edges of his cowl, and Tim clenches his fingers so hard the leather upholstery creaks under his grip, watching B fall further, onto his elbows, head bowed. The footage is blocked as Diana comes into view, rushing to Bruce's side, and the scene swaps.
"Where did you find this?" he growls, watching Barry do the same to him. Clark, again. Barry again.
"I was bored," Kon explains, looking at him worriedly. "We were...we ended up pretty deep into the Watchtower's database." He leans over Bart, taking the mouse, and clicks out.
To rows and rows of files for JL protocols.
23 is the first. Which makes sense, one through twenty-two are regarding JL processes, then— Protocol 23 is where they start looking at preventing injury.
Kon clicks on 24.
All enhanced Justice League members must undergo training on handling extraction to prevent further injury to casualties.
Tim's vision goes red as he watches Bruce bite back a scream as Arthur lifts him too brashly, and his arm visibly dislocates. That shoulder still gives him trouble to this day.
"I need to talk to Bruce."
I desperately need more of this! This is amazing! Thank you so much for writing it!
Bruce looking at Tim low-key confused about Tim's reaction because of course something had to happen for those rules to be in place. Back in the day there was no base for how people with enhanced abilities interacted with normal humans. No one knew how little idea this people had regarding humans limits, or how easily a well meaning action could roll down into an emergency, all of that had to come from experience. You know the saying: Where there's a rule there's a story! And as first generation, as the experiment generation, Bruce was the story. Every. Single. Time.

ppl on ao3 should use the "this work was inspired by" option more. so many fics out there that put links to other fics in the a/n but theres a better option.....
☝️ use this!!!!!!
important addition i forgot that not everyone might know. similar to how ao3 bookmarks work, you can also link to non-ao3 fanworks using this format. so, for instance, if theres some fanart on tumblr that inspired you to write the fic? you can link that fanart to your fic!
Y’know. Everyone likes to go “ghosts bond by fighting” but never really back it up with Danny interacting with the Batfam. He always bonds with them in the human way, which yea, that’s always nice. But I kinda wanna see Danny struggle with the human way.
Like, obviously he’s friends with Sam and Tucker without fighting them, but that’s just lasting affection from before his death. And yeah, his sister is Jazz, but she’s always been his sister, so there’s no change. But he fought Val. He bonded with Val the ghost way.
Gimme, post-Nasty Burger explosion or post-Bad Parents Fenton, Danny struggling to be in the Wayne family. Not because they’re obviously hiding something, or because they’re workaholics that… don’t seem to have jobs? No, his issue is that he doesn’t know how to interact with them.
Like, sure, Dick is always stating how excited he is that he’s got a new brother, but Danny just doesn’t feel it. Not like Danny feels it’s a betrayal to Jazz, but like Dick just seems distant. Yeah, Dick is very… huggy, let’s just say, and he’s constantly coming to Gotham to have “brotherly bonding” time with Danny and Dick does everything that Danny had ever imagined a big brother might do for him… but.
And of course Jason is there, he’s helping Danny with his English and Reading homework, he’s joking with Danny in the way that no one else is, he’s driving Danny from place to place, Jason is just… present, but.
And Tim, can’t forget Tim, Tim tinkers with projects with Danny and plays games with Danny and-
And Damian- Duke, Bruce, even Alfred!
But. But! Danny feels like an outsider looking in as he’s doing these activities with the Wayne’s. Not in a way of feeling like he’s inconveniencing these busy and important people, but in that he’s just hanging around with work friends he can barely remember the names of and definitely doesn’t have the phone numbers of (but he does, he has their phone numbers, he knows their names, he knows their favorite colors- what is wrong with him??)
And then it clicks, when he has to fight a misunderstanding Batman off. Because now Batman is his… friend? Dad? Now Batman is his something but why can’t he feel that way about Bruce?
And then he fights Nightwing in a panic and Nightwing becomes his… something. And it’s replicable. He fights every one of the Bats over a misunderstanding or because of some outside influence and they become his family even though he wanted this feeling with the Wayne’s and he doesn’t know what to do and it hurts that he doesn’t have this feeling with the Wayne’s and it almost feels like a betrayal to their efforts and-
Then he finds out that the Wayne’s are the Bats.
Leonard: It's over Flash!
Flash: Ugh I hate fighting you.
Leonard: Surrender and I'll make this easy.
Flash: How about no?
Leonard: Hard way it is!
Danny: Huh? Is this why my bus was taking so long?
Flash: Woo Civvie! Let me get you out of here.
Danny: Hm? No thank you. *Goes intangible before your flash could swipe him*
Flash: What.
Leonard: Damnit Flash stop being a damn hero— Danny?
Danny: Oh Hi Leo!
Flash: Huh
Leonard: Why are you here?
Flash: Why do you know Captain Cold?
Danny: 1) Leo you forgot this in the apartment. 2) Captain Cold?
Flash, staring at the gun in Danny's hand: I'll be taking that.
Danny: Uh no it doesn't belong to you. Dude who even are you?
Flash: Huh?!
Leonard, trying really hard not to laugh: Mmm! Danny come here.
Danny: Hm? Okay?
Flash: Uh HEY?!
Danny: Don't touch me ketchup man.
Leonard: God I love you. You need to stop putting yourself in dangerous situations.
Danny: Dangerous? That's just a guy in spandex.
Flash: THESE ARE NOT SPANDEX!
Leonard: Remember when I told you that I do very shitty things for work.
Danny: Okay?
Leonard: yeah I'm currently doing that right now.
Danny: Oh. Well could you hurry up because I'm going to be late to work?
Leonard: Yeah that was kind of what I was trying to do until you showed up.
Flash: Are we suddenly running a schedule now or?
Danny: I mean when you're affecting everyone else's commute pretty much.
Flash: That was sarcastic— wait you know you're dating a villain right?!
Danny: look at that face you really think that's an evil face right there?
Leonard, shit eating grin: Yeah Flash I could do no wrong I don't know what you're talking about.
Flash: WHAT?!
[Masterpost]
<Honestly I had the most fun with this one as Danny and Leo are pretty much just rage baiting Barry.>
Bruce: Excuse me, but who are you?
Danny: *taps the words on his vest*
Bruce: "Service Person, I am Working, Do Not Interact". Working?
Danny: *huffing and picks up Dick so he can carry him to a more quiet room*
Bruce: Alfred, that man-
Alfred: Ah yes, thats Master Dick's new Service Person, Danny. He's mostly for Emotional Support, but he has other jobs; like helping Master Dick with his PTSD, and helping him with physical therapy.
Bruce: I don't understand, is this like a relationship thing?
Alfred: Of course not, that would be highly inappropriate. Danny is a Service Person.
Bruce: What does that mean? How is this a thing?? Is this even legal???
DP x DC
Danny gets invited to join the Justice League. He’s a bit skeptical because it’s he’s pretty new to this universe and hasn’t had the chance to scope out the heroes yet. Eventually, they settle on letting him meet the team and join in on a couple meetings to get an idea of their morals and values. However, as soon as he arrives at the Watchtower, he zeros in on their resident demigod.
Danny: Soooo… does this universe not have child labor laws?
Batman: Excuse me?
Wonder Woman: I can assure you that we do not permit children on our team.
Danny: I am looking at a child right now. That, right there, is a child.
Captain Marvel: Uh you must be mistaken, Mr. Phantom, Danny, Sir. I am very much an adult.
Danny: …That kid hasn’t even hit puberty yet.
Flash: What? No we’ve have records of Captain Marvel going back centuries.
Captain Marvel: Exactly!
Batman: *Staring suspiciously* Hmmm
Danny: *Squints his eyes* No his magic is ancient, but he’s practically a toddler
Captain Marvel: A toddler?! I’m 10 and a half!
The rest of the League: …
Captain Marvel: I uh… I mean i’ve been around for hundreds of years
Batman: Marvel.
Captain Marvel: Damnit…

The Justice league facing a big baddie think they are screwed because Constantine is summoning the ghost king.
Zatanna: our odds aren't looking good but how can you think they will be better with the ghost king?
Constantine: he's been deposed and I got an in with the new guy
Danny: what up step dude Zatanna: step dude?
Danny: yeah. Stepfather is too formal and I already have a dad so step dude
Wonder Woman: how did you get Pandora's blessing?
Danny: is that what that is? I'll have to give her something nice for mother's day. She says hi btw, very proud of her niece so maybe I can get your autograph and make that part of her gift.
The in is Clockwork. I love it when Danny gets a ghost dad and his messy bf to train him. That is good good stuff
