claudia’s monologue makes everything she’s ever done make so much more sense. she didn’t come back because she realized louis needed her to pretend to be his sister. she came back because bruce made her realize she couldn’t survive alone. she’s Always been more like lestat. and of course she has. she was turned as a child. she barely knew humanity and the short amount of time she spent being human was absolute hell. she is her number one priority. of course she hates them. they selfishly made her to satisfy their own emotional needs. she was never anything but emotional labor to them, especially louis.

genuinely cannot fathom why people are surprised at louis and lestats reaction to the seance like this is the most in character reaction either of them could’ve had. they never took her rage or her pain seriously while she was alive, why would they take it any more seriously now that she’s dead? i really don’t think anything she told them was new to either of them, even the fact that she’s always hated louis is not that much of a shock to him, because of course she hates him, he killed her.

I feel like we really lost something when we started looking at writing as a reader-centric product meant to appeal to the desires of a specific audience rather than a writer-centric approach of someone writes whatever particular thing particular compels them/whatever weird thing the demons in their head want to talk about, and people out there who are also compelled, and/or relate, find that writing. A lot of discussions of writing really center around what readers want rather than a writer's exploration. Sometimes as a reader I don't know what I want. I click on a fic or pick up a book I'm not sure about but that looks interesting, and I love it. Reading what I expect to get is it's own joy, but we always need to expand our horizons and not get mad at creators for not always writing what we want/expect.

i do think we should normalise being like. platonically enamoured with someone. perhaps i love and admire you dearly and there's nothing romantic about it
